I know the advance ball is probably not likely, but I'm also looking for the little metal sleeve that converts the 33rpm to 45. There was one on ebay for a while, but it's not up any more.

Yeah, I saw that... not sure if I can justify spending nearly $100 on a small piece of metal, though. I might end up having a machinist friend make me a whole new idler arm.

Hi,

If you know someone with some machining skills, its pretty easy to make. On my 6N, I was able to tap the top of the stepped drive shaft with 10-32 threads. The hole in the shaft is just about right, so no drilling is required. Then I machined a bushing with an ID the size of the 33 rpm step and an OD of .405", which is about the correct diameter for 45 rpm. I made the length a bit taller than the step so I that it can be clamped in place via a 10-32 screw head. To use it, I just slide it over the drive shaft and secure it with the screw. Note that there is not much clearance from the top of the drive shaft to the underside of the platter, so you may need to shave the height of the bushing and/or the screw head to gain clearance. Also note that the speed selector stop screw cannot be used since it is normally set for 33 rpm. I just shift the lever by feel and lock it in place.

Anybody have an advance ball? I'll pay a good price for it... It's the only thing I lack right now.
