ID this Presto cutting head
Hi all - just bought my first lathe and wanted to see if I could get some help ID'ing the Presto head here. There are no model markings on it so I thought maybe someone out there knows just by looking at it. Thanks in advance!

Re: ID this Presto cutting head
That is a very old head on the Presto 16X, and some early modals, and latter was replaced by the 1B, 1C, and then the 1D heads. Yours dates back to 1935 era. Might need to be replaced or re-built.
Re: ID this Presto cutting head
PS: Post a photo of the lathe and I may be able to better pin point it.

Re: ID this Presto cutting head
There were some RCA branded heads that looked identical to it. I think Audax might have made them and licensed them to Presto and RCA. If i remember right, the audax name is on the back...

Re: ID this Presto cutting head
Alan and Michael, thanks for the responses. There very well could have been a name on the back, but it's covered up in gunk and theres really no way to read what may be underneath.
Re: ID this Presto cutting head
I was REALLY hoping it was a fabled S1

Re: ID this Presto cutting head
The S1 was much larger, but not as big as a Westrex or Neumann head. This image I think is the top of the head and the adjustment knob on the front for the advance ball. I don't know anyone who has ever seen one; I have an original sales brochure, but they may have run into patent issues with Westrex and other manufacturers at the time.
