6N motor rubber isolation
Does anyone have a part number or near replacement for the rubber motor isolation pieces on the 6N? No hardware stores have anything close to me, and Id rather not waste time buying the wrong thing online.
I know these parts have been discussed thoroughly, but I havent seen a specific mention on a direct replacement.
Thanks!

Re: 6N motor rubber isolation
Something I ran across a few months ago that look perfect are the rubber rollers from an old printer. I have a few from a printer I decommissioned, I'll post pictures this evening. I ended up going with a large, thick piece of sorbothane on my 6D.
Re: 6N motor rubber isolation
The printer roller sounds like a really good idea.
I think thats just a rubber piece between two washers on a machine screw basically. I come across a lot of those type isolation mounts on old hammond organ type stuff. I can't find any good replacements either.

Hi,
Maybe these might work:

Scroll down to see the improved motor grommets for the Rek-O-Kut turntables.
Also, try typing "motor grommet" into Google and look at the image search results. I see some possible subs there.

Re: 6N motor rubber isolation
Here's what I have on mine and from the printer. The taller roller has a slightly larger circumference than the smaller one. What I have on my lathe are 1" thick round cut pieces of Sorbothane with a special washer. With the Sorbothane if you don't have sufficient surface contact it won't hold up a screw or bolt, hence the extra large washer. I only have it on the top, I don't have anything between the motor and the underside of the motor mount as you would normally to stiffen the motor and keep it more parallel with the idler pulley.
Re: 6N motor rubber isolation
excellent, this is all really helpful.
'grommet' was the word I was looking for!
I kept searching for rubber washer, knowing that it wasn't quite right.

Re: 6N motor rubber isolation
the new rubber grommets fit well, maybe a little less tall than the originals.
but from what I can tell the rumble is decreased, or at least not worse than before.
I never measured noise floor due to rumble, sorry!
But if you have old, mashed rubber grommets on there, I would highly suggest getting some springy new ones.
