polycarbonate blanks available for those who want them

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

all this talk about polycarbonate blanks has made me decide to bite the bullet and offer the service myself here in the states.

i can order them in any size you want, 7", 10" or 12", all pre-cut and pre-drilled. they are very sturdy, plastic protected and free of any warpage. i can get them in various different colours, clear being the cheapest - but also available in white, black, red, blue, yellow, etc.

price depends on the quantity but is really affordable. the more you buy, the cheaper it is for you. turnaround time is around 7 business days or less for the colours in stock.

if you are interested, please pm me or contact me via email with your requests and i'll shoot you back a quote. here's a photo of a 12" and 7" that i have on hand already:

let me know guys!
all the best!

Bayer "Makrolon" is the polycarbonate that optical discs are made from although I'm sure this is not the optical grade of Makrolon (not that it would need to be).

What are you using to cut these? Has anybody used a Neumannn SX74 head to cut onto polycarbonate???????

yes i use a sx74 a lot for polycarbonate. no problem....

and sorry for all the vinylike request which go to nowhere...
still wait we have the shop finished.

at the moment the trouble is too big to sell them without the shop.
but if someone needs urgent blanks....

i have 10inch 1mm
some 7inch blanks 1mm
and some 12 inch 1mm

i only sell within europe. except you really want it and are ready to pay shipping.

please no orders smaller than 25 blanks.
