shipping - size and weight of pressing equipment

Hello guys

I live in Recife, Brazil, and am right in the process of constructing a business plan for a Vinyl Press Factory in my country.

To the time, I have no been able to find any equipment for that objective in Brazil. They will either come from Europe or North America (Canada, prolly).

I have already been able to grasp at some average prices, but one thing that is bugging me is that I do not know about size and weight of those machines, like the Toolex Alpha and similar ones. I am pretty sure shipping charges will be certainly relevant while composing the investment needed to start the business.

So, have any of you guys shipped this kind of stuff to such continental destinations? Do you happen to know size/weight of such equipment?

BEst regards

Andre

Calculate a full container mate that is 22.5 tonne gross and whatever you can fit in it
You shouild be prety right for a couple of presses and associatted bits and pieces
If they are SMT's allow 6 tonne each Alphas around the 2.5 Tonne each Other gear who knows
Guess a container load and it should be about right at the 20 odd tonne
And it would be a lot less costly as the handling of the gear on paletts kills you
They will also need to be consolidated in a container load to your destination any way so they sit around until the shippers can get enough gear so they can fill a container They do so but charge you for a lot of handling
So here you are

As far as I can remember Toolex Alpha AD1202 weighs about 1900 Kg (the press) and about 300 Kg (the extruder).
As the press unit will be probably screwed to a pallet, you will be able to move it with a forklift but you will have to be very careful because most weight is on the top. Also the shifting of the forks (if the forklift has it) won't probably work. It should not be a problem though if there will be a skilled forklift driver. As for the extruder, no problems.

A load of two paletts 1.2 x 1.2 metres of inner covers/sleeves from the USA was quoted at well over $1,900.00
A full DCT that is a container 20' x 8' x 8'was $2480.00 Go figure

I would go for a container

40 feet is about £2400 UK pounds - maybe cheaper in the US.
Happy to learn something new.
