Embossing polycarbonate (with video)
So, this is my final 2014 try before I go on well deserved vacations for a month. I'm pretty happy with the results, long way to go yet.
Material: Polycarbonate blank
Stylus: backwards sapphire at aprox 45 degrees (angle betwen the blank and the engraving edge)
Angulo Records machine
The PC I had left for this was a little warped, so masking tape was used to straighten it while cutting and playing.
Final discovery: when playing engraved discs with no antiskating, is better to use very low weight (between 0.7gr ad 1 gr). but you can add more weight if you dial in some antiskating. This way apparently you avoid playing the "horns".

This is a mono recording of my own.
Thaks for everyones's help so far! Happy hollidays!

Hi,
I'm using Nuendo, I think it's basically the same as Cubase.
You can see the equalization applied with Izotope Ozone, to compensate for some of the resonances of the head. After that comes the inverse RIAA
plugin, a deesser and a limiter. I also compressed the audio about 3:1 before that.
Kind regards
Miguel
