RESOLVED: Site crashes and "too many requests"

This site is once again experiencing Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. This may show up as an error message: "The user has sent too many requests in a given amount of time." We need to upgrade our firewalls. I'm on it.

It appears the new firewall is adequately deployed. Guests visiting the site are around 250, instead of the 48976 (mostly bots) we had two days ago. Let's see how it goes over the course of today.

Thanks for your patience during the site crashes. I had to needle their tech support several times a day since last Thursday, but we got there.

Further update .... I'm still seeing an alarmingly high number of site visitors, but the site seems to be functioning ok. Please alert me (at lathetrolls@gmail.com) if you experience any site crashes or error messages.
