i have rewired the machine and installed a 10 foot ac line cord, 8 D cell batteries inside the case, and the machine has an external input for 12vdc as well. when not connected to the computer i am running the machine on ac, for doing transfers to the computer i am using 12 vdc to eliminate any 60 cycle hum. this is a direct transfer from a mp3 audio file of a harmony 78 disc recorded on this machine on a one dollar tape from goodwill, the input audio was playing on my ipad in to the aux input with a.l.c., fair results for a $ 19 machine running on batteries...
