califone cassette recorder converted to 12vdc / NO A/C HUM

i went to radio shack and picked up 2 4 "D" cell battery holders and wired them in series. the machine had a 12 volt input on the back so i wired the batteries to the existing input jack. i mounted the battery holders inside the case with foam mounting tape. i removed the a/c power cord . the machine is completely autonomous with its own internal 12 volt power source AND NO A/C HUM IN THE TRANSFERS... this was recorded on this machine from a you tube video playing on my ipad plugged into aux-in...
