'Lines' in groove

Anything goes! Inventors! Artists! Cutting edge solutions to old problems. But also non-commercial usage of record cutting. Cost- effective, cost-ineffective, nutso, brilliant, terribly fabulous and sometimes fabulously terrible ideas.

'Lines' in groove

I've noticed these "lines" in the sidewall of the groove and i'm curious if anyone has some insight?

Unmodulated grooves sound quiet, but it doesnt look right..

blanks are generally not heated as per myshank faq: "Use heating only to flatten slightly warped blanks. Avoid using heat as a standard cutting condition."

needle is heated to around .3 amps and groove width is around 50-60 microns.

Second question; how long does the needle take to heat up?

Hi, I would try higher current to the styli heating. It is recommended 0.5A everywhere.. I expect to give 2 or 3 minutes to preheat diamond.
Hope I can do it before I retire. Cheers from CZ
