Presto K11 Platter locked up
All of a sudden I went to switch into 33rpm mode and the platter locked up and won't spin. When I put it back into the free mode it spins but as soon as I engage a speed it locks up. I have yet to open her up. Any ideas?

Re: Presto K11 Platter locked up
It's the capstan is locked up and not turning when gear is engaged. Can hear humming from the motor. Gonna get some wd40 and spray in the top of the motor and manually turn her to loosen up. Put new oil in last night. If that doesn't work I'm going to open up the motor and clean the bearings.
Re: Presto K11 Platter locked up
ah I see, that's a bummer.
there are some oil points on the motor, I'm thinking you found them from you post.
I don't have a K, but I know there are two oil points on the 6N motor.
might double check the bearing as well.
best

Re: Presto K11 Platter locked up
Thanks for the help guys I just realized I never posted an update. After getting some more lubrication in there she fired up. Over time she seized up a couple times here or there early on but now that we've been operating the machine more regularly everything is smooth. We actually had our first bootleg style 45 released at a show the other day for one of our bands. You guys are the best!
