VMS70 weight

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Hello,

i can´t find any information in my documents.
Perhaps somebody here knows the weight of a complete
VMS70 lathe, without the rack ?
We are planning a new room so i need to know.

Thanks for your help.

I would estimate in the 500-600 lb range.

120 - motor
75-platter
150- lathe bed casting
150 - cabinet w/electronics
50 -- pitchbox

These are only my guesses but I bet they are pretty close.

Concrete facts.

Indeed, manual reads 680 lbs for "complete VMS 70 system - 1.100, for shipping total."

ymmv

Fwiw, LS-76 The Lathe weighs in near 600 lbs, too, this gorilla. When arrived crated by Ted, including tv, stand, amps, cutting head box, spare parts, etc..., this came in at over 900 lbs, wood crating, included. Still, one guy could take it off a truck with a lift gate - if the guy is tall and strong... Nice lady driver begged off when they tried it on the first day, as I could be only so much help~!

hi guys,

thanks for the infos. Yes i think about 600lbs for the lathe itself is
realistic another.
The rack itself is not so heavy. about 100lbs perhaps.

thanks & greetings
