Lathe-Cut Audio Sample Inside

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

a few of the trolls here have hit me up regarding my lathe-cut services so i thought i'd take one of the pieces i'm currently cutting and record one track off of a freshly cut slab of poly for you all to check out.

here ya go!
http://soundcloud.com/poly-cut/outlaw-con-bandana-womans-hate

the artist is Outlaw con Bandana, a local group here in Omaha who i am doing three different LPs for currently. great guitar folk stuff with a country-ish twang to it. he's only doing 20 copies of each album and most of them are already spoken for.

if you have any more questions, feel free to hit me up

enjoy!
all the best!

nope, it's embossed on the same poly you get from me :)

presto 6n
grampian type-c magnetic mono
cut at 0 db run through a mackie board and a crappy behringer 32 channel eq with the low cut at 32 and high cut at 16
cut at 33 on a 192 lpi screw
all the best!

a lot of trial and error, great combination of lubrication and heat and not over pushing the cutterhead. i'll put up this punk thing i did when i get a chance.

What are you using to lubricte it? Are you just heating it with a heat lamp?
