This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.
Does someone have experience with the high end stylus of Souri as advertised on the Vinyl Recorder website? Wondering in which way the transcription is better than the normal stylus…
It’s a natural diamond with a better structure and orientation. Also much sharper because of the diamonds structure to allow for a more minimal back angle. The diamonds are brazed into a steel button and then super glued into aluminum ring with the flat.
Thanks for this information @david34 and @mushroomjesus . Yes, Souri contacted me to say he doesn't do them anymore.
Interesting to read about the different diamond.
