Willie Michelles studio in Memphis

This is where record cutters raise questions about cutting, and trade wisdom and experiment results. We love Scully, Neumann, Presto, & Rek-O-Kut lathes and Wilcox-Gay Recordios (among others). We are excited by the various modern pro and semi-pro systems, too, in production and development. We use strange, extinct disc-based dictation machines. And other stuff, too.

Is it this VMS.

The clock on to of the pitch control gives it away, as it was kept as was....

It could be.
The only one I have seen utilize the clock was the Stax lathe.
How common were those clocks back then though.
Not very I reckon.

It doesn't seem to be listed with ardent anymore but it could be your starting point.
Drop them a mail but I wouldn't hold your breath with getting a reply.

The Stax lathe is at Ardent Studios in Memphis.

My friend Jeff Powell cut on it.

so many errors ,dis info in my original post! John Gary Williams got back to me and appoligised for getting things mixed up and leading me to post up wrong info! the photo is infact taken in the 70s,in Ardent studios, not at Royal studios of the great Willie Mitchell ,and yes its still there, and that is William C Brown in the photo. Jeff Powell is one lucky guy
