Re: flutter question / external motor to pitch
I don't have any experience with the external motor, but I have Technics SP15 and SP10 and would suggest both of those highly

Re: Wanted: Disc Cutting Machine
the Sillitoe and the Agnew lathes will be intended for lacquer cutting, as far as I can tell.
expect their price range to reflect that - a lacquer cutting system, Scully, Neumann, etc will be at least $100K, if not more.
just setting expectations here!

Re: Potential cutter head problem?
my Souri head showed these symptoms before it became totally unusable. it starts in the low end, then becomes an audible "farty" distortion tone, which moved up the spectrum the more I used it. I thought it was just that particular source track, but it's the head. I used mine really moderately too, ...

Re: Djing with acrylic discs
the general consensus is acrylic can be cut but it wears the stylus down much faster, something like 3-4 discs per diamond stylus.
whereas the PETG with diamond can be cut 80-100 hours regularly
the wear makes acrylic unsustainable

Re: Lockdown turntable and lathe - a DIY project
Hi everyone, my program is working fine, thank you to your help. Now i have a question, is it possible to put the stylus only on the cones, without the styulus holder? The stylus would be put in a cube, fixed to the cones Tell me if you cant understand, i'm french. You need the armature (the small ...

Re: Landsurfing and embossing
yeah I hear you there! it's an angle adjustment usually for me.
Like you I'll get the lowest surface noise, and some "horn riding" issues on louder cuts.
Then I angle the head back towards flat, and get better tracking, but slightly higher surface noise.

Re: Vacuum Pump Research
A thought occurs, from my experience with pump organs and player pianos - has anyone experimented with the kind of multi-bellows vacuum pump used in several types of motorized player piano? I would imagine something like it would have been used in the early days of cutting for the same purpose. htt...

Re: Printer and Plotter for Sleeves
sounds good, I would just caution against using an inkjet printer if you're doing quantity. I had an Epson Artisan 1430 for a while and solid black art (which most of what I do is) would use up a whole cartridge per order of 20 12x12"s or so. And I would suggest using their proprietary inks for qua...

Re: Bone Record Marriage Proposal
super cool idea, I'd suggest hiring somebody if the time frame is that big of a factor. anything in the price/quality range of the Recordette or the Gakken won't be able to do an Xray successfully. They don't routinely apply enough pressure to emboss. You would need a Presto 6N or sturdy Rek O Cut, ...

Re: T560 in Australia
for an experienced cutter who reads every T560 thread, I'd bet you could get 90% of the info you need. if you're a beginner who's never cut before, I'd say you need dedicated tech support to explain the basics that are taken as a given on the forum. if you do buy a second hand machine, I can offer 2...
