Yeah. I emailed Gib and he's going to rebuild them.

After they're rebuilt, does it take much to drive the stylus?

Do I need to amplify my signal and then run it through a transformer to step it up?

How much do I have to amplify a signal to cut?

I have 3 Astatic crystal heads and a couple full lathes. The lathes all either have amps that are destroyed (mechanically) or have safety issues. Basically, I'm looking to cut free of the existing amplification built into these units and having a 1/4" jack feed directly into the cutting head. I've d...

Meissner thumb screw

Got a Meissner lathe (will check the model number when I get home) but it is missing the screw at the end of the recording arm that holds the head up and I believe it also tightens the cutting needle in.

Anyone know what size this screw is or have a photo/diagram?

LEXAN polycarbonate sheet

Anyone cut on sheets of this? It can be purchased online from various sources in different width/length/thickness variations. You'd obviously have to cut it down to size.

Recordio audio input

So, I just got my second Recordio the other day and I need to open these things up to figure out how to tap an audio input (1/4" jack) into the cutting amp. Is this as simple as replacing the radio output line that connects to the recording portion? I don't expect it to be tough to figure out but ju...

Anyone done anything crazy like melting records and things like that to create new recording media?

I know I've heard of people doing really wild things to recycle old records for lathe projects. I've never really followed up on any of this to find out if it worked and the process they went through.

dumb question maybe...

Are you cutting the edges of the plate off and only using the flat center?
