Re: T560 Modifications - What have you done?

Wow! That's some great insight into what can be done! I want to be able to monitor in/out signals in a waveform to see them side by side. I have been using software Ozone Insight to do this. What are you guys using to monitor signals in/out - other than your ears. I do like the visual waveform also....

Re: T560 Modifications - What have you done?

OH!! And now i ONLY USE 2mm Souri blank discs. I don't use 1.5mm anymore. Much flatter.

I also purchased the platter from Souri. No wow and flutter - big improvement.

T560 Modifications - What have you done?

Hey all.. I have a T560 - Great machine, very happy with cuts. I still can't help but think there are some common modifications that could be made to the machine, which I understand MAY not make a HUGE difference, but being the nature of the beast and me having OCD, These are the things I have so fa...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

Hey guys n gals../ The power supply we have rigged up is a CODEGEN 400W ATX 2.03 MODEL: 400X It has a variety of voltages that you can simply have the wire coming out of the box as, we have it as 12v and the wires straight into the RIAA/EQ Being indépendant of the groove speed motor means there is n...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

I now have no motor noise at all?? And I isolated all hardware from the rack prior and still had motor noise. Wasn't an Earth loop - it was the fact that the power to the Groove speed motor and Stylus heating was piggy backed off and supplying power to the RIAA and EQ in Main unit. Problem was solve...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

We also tried isolating each of the units and the leak remained.. Maybe it's an Aussie thing? Anyway all solved. When I get home from holidays I will post a photo and description of how we resolved this issue for other trolls to use. I do have to say that it has made my cuts so much better - a defin...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

We just soldered in another power supply unit on 12v..

Sorted the issue and literally the quietest cuts ever now.. Well worth opening up the main unit to see how it has been piggy-backed.

Probably works ok in some countries but did not work here in oz..

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

Hi guys.. Well it has definitely worked. So you know what we did to the main unit: Unsoldered the power cables to the RIAA and EQ (Which was crazily piggy-back powered from the groove speed motor - a foolish move) Found out what load was needed to power the RIAA and EQ independently. Used a separate...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

Ps: Souri had also sanded off part numbers - a wise move I guess in a business sense!

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

Yes we added a capacitor last night just before the motor silicone. Did not resolve the issue. We spent a good 3 hours last night. Pulled the top off the main unit. We were surprised that Souri had soldered power to the Eq (RIAA) part of the main unit and the groove speed motor/Diamond heat. My frie...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

Folks it looks like I counted my chicken before they hatched. ..

Ran a test cut this morning after assuming that the whine was gone (was not as audible when motor on with line selected)

but low and behold, the pitch sound was very prominent.

I'm honestly running out of ideas..

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

I will check back on my old test cuts. The funny thing is that the pitch whine was such a low frequency at 33 speed that I couldn't hear it. Only when I cut 45 speed (70 on groove speed dial) did I hear the pitch as it was a high frequency and detectable. We'll look into the box for anyone else on h...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

OK Folks.. It is with great pleasure that I announce that we replaced the "Blue Wave" 12V Power supply to the Groove speed motor with another one and the pitch sound is ... GONE! I really hope this thread helps out any other VinylRecorder user out there that may have the same issues.. I would like t...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

ps: The groove motor noise doesn't bother me, until it is cut into records audio - then it bothers me.

I'll be back later hopefully with results!

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

Hi mark, The noise attached is with everything on and cutting audio groove. When cutter amp is switched off, the pitch (groove speed motor) sound goes with it. The cutter amp is standard VR - NJS760 (New Jersey Sound) I'm sorry but I don't know what you mean by shorting the inputs to the amp? I have...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

Hi Mark, I have tried your suggestion of removing input leads into Cutter amp. The noise still remains. This is my chain: iMac (audio source) > Vinyl optimiser > thru Souri mixer > Main Unit (control groove speed here) > cutter amp > Cutterhead When cutter amp is off, pitch sound still exists, but i...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

Hi Mark, I can hear the noise when I am not cutting.. In fact, when the mixer switch is on audio source (rather than pickup) it is quite prominent. I have cut silent groove with cutter amp off. No pitch noise on record until I turn on the cutter amp, then it is on the record.. We are going to try a ...

Re: VinylRecorder Groove speed motor noise through record

Ok.. Busy little day today. The things I have tried: Plugged the whole rig into a different power outlet - no change Bypassed my Behringer micro-amp - no change (this allows me to monitor levels and stereo signal via software back to iMac) Removed main unit from the audio rack that I have all units ...
