I've got my eyes on that one too... The lathe seems to be self-made - not ortofon, though looking nice. The point is that there is absolutly no warranty that anything is working... The guy who's selling it seems to be some kind of "vintage gear dealer" and just want's to make $$$ - after a closer lo...

What is this "g"? Is this something that counts the acceleration of the cutting stylus? "g" is the natural acceleration on earth (gravity) which is 9.81 m/s^2 physics tells us that force F = Mass m x Acceleration a so if you have high accelerations and want to keep the force (record wear etc.) low ...

This has been mentioned here but I dont think anyone actually polishes and de-clicks mothers by hand anymore - its probably become a lost art. Hmm, I think Pallas in Germany does it... but I'm not sure... Here's a little report about them (in Deutsch) http://www.analog-forum.de/wbboard/index.php?pa...

for all those who need a quick, cheap solution, do it like this: -place stamper on turnatable -tilt turntable -place tonearm on the inside (maybe add force/weight to cartridge) -playback -record playback on computer -reverse audio -- and then listen to your stamper :D the playback is in mono. maybe ...

Don't get confused andy....it's simple: Power P = U*I = I^2*R <- because U=I*R so you see that the power in the heating coil depends only on amperes running through it... as far as i know the neumann lathe has constant voltage source with a pot in series... so your calculation is for the heating coi...

@flo did you modify the circuit for the ds522? my measurements told me that the head has a roll-off at approx. 200Hz (even with fb) so the RIAA low cut has to be modified... where do you put the rc-network? in parallel/series with the drive coil? for boosting the highs? i've been looking at the go51...

when you adjust the feedback level, all the riia encoding is before the drive level , mixer etc ... Even if there is a feedbacxk loop ,it won t change nothing to have riaa on or off . that's right At 5K RIAA raises the signal 8.2 db +8.2dB signal means 4 times more power to the head... you can do i...

But haven't try to take out magnet pole plates near drive coil to see what can be seen under them... heh I wouldn't take out the magnet... Take out the complete armature. I made a simpel tool for it - A small screwdriver with a little slot in the middle of the blade Underneath the long screw, which...

I could ask him if he may want to spare a few for experiments. That would be great! Have been searching for some so long, without succes... I also got two Ortofon Monos. One DS522, and the other looks the same, but has no type engraved. Both still have the original stylus holder, and I just don't w...

Hmm, I guess you could make a little frame (maybe 2 flat washers?), dip them in releasing agent, and then wind the coil into/onto them, wait until glue/laquer is hardened, disassemble the construction and glue the coil onto the armature... I have a second cutter around which needs the same treatment...

Hi! I did it on YOUR machine when it was restored, but I can't remember how it was done...(remembering that i also asked andy back then ) Hmm, yes I think there are only 2 or 3 things to set-up, something like "fixed speed on switch pos. x , and on pos. y" or so... Guess you will have to read ...
