hi, i like the idea about your diy lathe, but i have some doubt with printing a WHOLE lathe. i guess there are a lot of important pieces which should (or have to) be made out of metal like the base, sled, carriage, bearings etc. and will define the qulity of the thing. but i guess it could be handy ...

Hey,
I don't have any specific "design" for a moving iron head (except the basic principle scatch),
but I read an articel which says you could (or should if your budget is low)
use an old magnetic pickup since the basic is the same.
Maybe add a stronger magnet and there you go.
Hope this helps

the general construction appears very similar to the grampian head ie the armature that holds the stylus is of a similar shape and the coil is a "saddle" type so my question is this should the coil be wound directly onto the armature Hmm, I guess it is a regular moving iron head so the coil schould...

welcome to the universe of record cutting! before getting started it may be a good idea to have a look at a mastering facility near you to see what's it all about. i guess schnittstelle is the nearest to you... having some knowledge on electrical engineering is very helpful since most systems will n...

Would the siemens solve this problem for me and others so? I guess you have one of those prestos with a bodine motor? Well you could use one of those, yes. But as I said I'm looking for a 1 Phase Version of this since most little motors only need 1 phase (and a capacitor), and this would be a much ...

For the VMS, I think that the transformers have taps for 110V and 220V (Maybe someone else knows better...) If so you can solder a new cable to them and everything is fine. If not, check the power rating of the machine (I guess you only want to use the pitch, because you already have a fitting motor...

Most converters have the problem of not changing line freq... Well if you use a tansformer there will be no difference in line frequency... There are dedicated tools for this such as the Micromaster etc. (Frequenzumrichter = frequency converter???) which convert your line to anything you want... Mo...

here's your answer:
Do the numbers - how many sides will you have to cut before you will return to a break-even proposition?

I cannot answer your question with numbers or anything, but I know dubplates that were cut with the VR and they are really durable. But I guess durability is not only depending on material but also how it is cut. A record with very wide groove spacing and deep cut will last longer than one with narr...

I guess the reason for this arrangement was to save (back then..) expinsive analog memory in the pitch computer... I don't have a VMS but I think you could use an Y-cable. This will work if your pitch + cutteramp has high input impedance and your tape deck a low output impedance.... Maybe better sol...

You could also use a standard volt-meter with a diode (or diode bridge) parallel to the output of the amp / cutter. I've seen this configuration on a lot of old home recorder schematics, and also early "pro" stuff... This would give you an idea of the recording level / cutter current and will be one...

Hi, I was already wondering why you need a tube astable multivibrator... If you need a simple Sine-Wave Generator use a Phase-Shift-Oscillator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phase-shift_oscillator) or a Wien-Bridge-Oscillator... Commonly used for tremolo circuits in guitar cicuits, and if made well a...
