Re: T560 Vacuum
I have the quiet model that Souri offers. I did move the tank off of the main unit / lathe base. I found that the tank was vibrating the whole table.

Monitoring While Cutting Master Lacquer
Hey Trolls, total noob question, but do you all monitor your cuts while cutting a master lacquer?? I know that acetate degrades a little bit with each play, so I would assume that it's wise to not monitor your cut, but only monitor your test cut (with a playback head in the groove). If you don't mon...

Half Speed Mastering
Hey Trolls. About to dive into doing some Half speed mastering. Any wisdom you guys can offer? I do all of my RIAA encoding in the box, does anything need to change or do I just go for it? Thanks much!

Re: calibrate /configure T560
I just felt like there were just so many gain stages with the other set up. I was always getting distortion even at low volumes, no matter how hard I tried (i'm being nit picky when I call it distortion, it was very minimal). I have do have going low end and hi end roll offs in my DAW. I'm not sendi...

Re: calibrate /configure T560
Thought I'd chime in here. :) I don't use the mixer or pass audio through Souri's main unit any longer. I come out of my DAW (Wavelab) > Apollo > Amp > Cutterhead. I do all RiAA encoding in the box, as well as low end summing and all using Ozone. I attenuate using the Apollo which has an analog atte...

Re: Vinyl Recorder flutter issue
I would check your back angle, which will change depending on your cutterhead height when you drop in. Souri Recommends a 90degree angle from the surface. His website is super helpful for stuff like this. http://www.vinylrecorder.com/angle.html However, the cutterhead has a default back angle of abo...

Re: Help Calibrating Gain for Vinyl Recorder
Zero or Unity being that Bold White line about 75% way up on your fader.
Digital Zero on your source audio.
Meter Zero on your Souri Meters.
Hope this helps.
I will say too that I no longer use this configuration, so if I'm forgetting something, please remind me!

J

Re: Help Calibrating Gain for Vinyl Recorder
Hey Ben. Sup!? Try this: Use test tone vinyl to set gain for your playback system. Play the test tone vinyl on your technics and over on your mixer, gain up the playback input until you are metering 0db on your Db Meter. Now you know where 0db is on your playback. To set the gain for your source aud...

Vacuum Tube Clogging Issue VR
Hey trolls. Every so often, I run into a clogging issue with our VR vacuum system and I just can't figure out why it's happening. I've tried all the tricks that I know about - And yes I've seen Opcode66's plastic cutting guide - but I was wondering if this is just par for the cutting course or if I'...

Re: quality of cuts and some questions regarding vinylrecord
Hey brother (or sister), I'm gonna try to help you out a little ! But yes, you should talk to Souri, or maybe Wolfe! 1) When you've got the Spacing Dial all the way at zero, you shouldn't try to cut higher than -6db. You will get grooves slamming into each other which can, in turn, produce a number ...

Specs on Finebilt Manual Press
Hey everyone. I've been digging and digging. I've read multiple posts on here about what it would take to get a pressing house up and running. But I keep coming back to the Finebilt. Seems like something that would suit my needs.. Manual, DIY, not a huge machine. Does anyone have specs on those old ...

Pressed PVC Blanks vs. Blanks cut from PVC Sheets
Hello everyone!! So I've done a bit of experimenting with blanks over the last couple years.. One question I have, before I have my guy cut up a sheet of PVC, is in regard to where or not there is any difference in the PVC material when blanks are made by being pressed or by being CNCed from a sheet...
