I dint know grampian made so many diffrent models are all the models moving iron type? I think I will use the transco saphire. I only want the lathe to cut my own dance tracks in mono some places have crap sound systems so mono sound best. I found my lathe on the net Presto 8N heavy modds give it 24...

Nice one for the info. jayDC how long are you saphires lasting cutting pvc as its hard? and what the sound quality like? motorino where do you get the vestax styli from. Cant find anyone in england all say on phone out of stock? Have vestax stopped production of there cutter??? Its nice to fine help...

diamond cutting styli for grampian

has anyone see or know of a diamond cutting styli for grampian head??
Or is is poss it mod a diffrent shank eg. neumann to fit?
would like to cut apollo lites..
Only one I can find is the transco saphire.

Lewis Thanks for the intrest.. have orded input and output transformers valve sockets, caps ect. have found a case for the psu. so should look at construction some time next week..

found a RCA ex. mil tranz for job is rated bigger then orig. £40 psu stand about £100 amp £300 to £400 depend on sorce of valves old large cases £10 each ex mil. output tubes 811a £10 each(china) £100 pair(nos ex. mil) caps ect cheap ex mil. not many thing made in 1950 had a pcb Even my Rivera valve...

+-90v(180v) seem common as a supply if big amps +-50v(100) in smaller stuff had a "no name china amp" for repair working V +-100v(200v) from psu was only 500W.wouldnt like my speakers on that! sorry about maths at 2 mins after awake at a rough gusse av found tranz for psu. hard bit sorted. amp parts...

3 to 4 amps at 180V full swing = 540W or 720W eq. 1000W PA. It states in manual never drive continus tone at full power will destroy head 150W valve power =250W trans power.I have rivera hammer320 valve it in real world is a loud as 500W class A and play all day,night,day ect. At Big volume no probs...

euro lathes

Didny Lyrec make a very good lathe. made in sweden I think? used ortofon electronics. Conisure or somthing like that also made lathes in england never see a pic just a carrage with leadscrew

From what I have found for grampian D feedback 250W min amp for headroom 500omh drive coil 20 ohms is for feedback seems very low Z but mine has 4 ohm drive and slightly higher feedback 27 ohm. Seem that you can wind coils to suit amp and electronics. If I can find specs will post. Am just simulatin...

I am only just getting into cutting. but I read and whot seem to be common is that the BEST cuts use very little compreson or EQ only RIAA curve, clean basic analogue systems, sorce,RIAA,mixer,amp,head. Read a article on a guy who worked at JVC he said the best sound on the trillon dollar mastering ...
