Re: LVDT for feedback?
hello caruso head was designed in 2009/2010 with optical feedback. test where very promissing. the torque tube had reflectors that took the movment directly close to the stylus. way better than far away... main reason was the idea, that the users can quickly swap a burned drivecoil. would be so easy...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter
i think you can put whatever blank you want. just not sure if they fit an if you have best results. i guess phonocut will have not an open ear if you send in a broken stylus because of using wrong blanks. i am sure you will get always new styli , repair from phonocut. but not for free. its not the s...

looking forward to the results. concerning the speed. not sure when this 45 RPM audiophile Super Sonic series LPs came out. but i guess not before the 80ies. also i could not find any infos. who produced that stuff. but the chance is very high that it was cut on a vms80 /vms82 or on one off the vms7...

Re: Fairchild Model 642 Cutter Head Value?
hello. the head is a a pure & nice museum item. unless a collector is hunting for it its worthless. in a practical way. yes i know: it says fairchild. but not useable. i know at least one amp system that changed hands for way too big money (because of the fairchild tag) . nice & very powerful amps. ...

hello all engines on full speed. yes phonocut was at NAMM show currently a couple of more prototypes and ramping up the mass production. lots of testing, refinements. not sure if you know what it means to produce around 500 pcs... all energy to have them produced as promissed. also there is no addit...

Re: RIHPA Awards 2019: "Naxatras III" Best Audiophile Record
a caruso head is way better than any westrex head i ever came across the last 20 years. and even with westrex 3C (technically speaking a horrible head) a lot of award winning records where made. westrex has normally 2 additional resonances in the audio range. caruso has one. if you do an open loop m...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter
Regarding blanks, warranty, etc as described below. Be careful of this - it is not legal in the US. The printer companies (HP, Canon, etc) tried this, and it was ruled not legal. Now, using 3rd party ink for printers does not invalidate warranty. https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/laws...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter
You can hear that there is some pitch flutter on the Phonocut version noticeable on the Rhodes chords. To me it sounds like the motor / drive on the turntable might be struggling? I understand that this is a prototype but still the comparison was posted without any explanation so one has to assume ...
