1950's RCA victor lathe for sale
I have a 1950's RCA Victor cutting lathe for sale. It's in working condition. Asking price $5,000 and you would have to pick it up in Osseo, Wisconsin. I really don't want to part with it because it's a one of a kind machine but if you are willing to love this machine as much as I do I can find it i...

They sound pretty good. The music that is playing in the video is the record playback. I also have more samples on my website http://hawkweedrecords.yolasite.com

Re: Audio Driver For Presto Cutter Head?
I think I'll try a smaller amp just to be safe. As for setting up the vu meter I was going to get all levels set on my RCA victor lathe then connect my new meter and cutter head then adjust the vu meter to read the same levels as the victor. Am I trying to over complicate my setup? Could I just run ...

Re: Audio Driver For Presto Cutter Head?
Thanks for the help! How many watts can I run into it? I started rebuilding this with out the amp but I would like to set this up to add a 1/4 plug that connects to the meter then the cutter head. That way I can try different amps. Here's a picture of my presto rebuild. I used a vintage shoe/hat cas...

Making a record on 1950's RCA Victor Cutting Lathe
I've been meaning to edit together a video showing my process of cutting for a long time and I finally got around to it. I bought this machine a year ago fixed a few things and began cutting terrible sounding records ever since. Thanks to the help from posts here at the lathe trolls I was able to ma...

Audio Driver For Presto Cutter Head?
I own a working RCA Victor Lathe with a Presto cutter head. I recently bought some of the guts from an old Presto suitcase record lathe on ebay but its missing the electronics to power the cutterhead. Can I use a normal radio amp speaker output to power both heads by hooking the 2 heads together one...

1950's RCA Victor Resurrection
Hey everyone, I've ressurected an old 1950's RCA Victor Cutting Lathe and I've been cutting on clear Makrolon disc with cheap RCA victor player needles. I recently tried PFANSTIEL Swiss Steel phonograph needles which were just a little to small for my presto cutterhead resulting in a little distorti...

Re: Has anyone here ordered blanks from vinylblanks@gmail.co
He did send me 20 euros back but then I haven't heard anthing since. I was lucky enough to have my local plastics company make me some blanks for me and I have started a website with some info about the cutting I've done. Check it out here http://hawkweedrecords.yolasite.com

Re: Has anyone here ordered blanks from vinylblanks@gmail.co
I didn't want to post the name of the person or his company but I wanted to warn others since I received his email through the lathetrolls site. It does seem like there was some shady business going on with the person in question and I am out that money. He also put me in a bad position with the cut...

Has anyone here ordered blanks from vinylblanks@gmail.com?
On March 12th I transferred 90 Euros to a company in Germany for vinyl blanks. The blanks were never shipped so I contacted them and I was told again and again that they would go out the next week which never ended up happening. It is now 2 months later and I contacted them again and was told my bla...

Re: RCA Victor cutter distortion problems
Thanks again for the info. I opened up the cover of the cutter and the shock rubber has a ripe in it. Does anyone know where I could buy some rubber to replace it? Also how much tension should I have on the cutter head? Should it feel weight less like the needle on a record player?

Re: RCA Victor cutter distortion problems
Thanks for the info! The needle is steel and there is a little hole on the front that I tried to use to tighten it down but It didn't do anything. May be it is stripped? I will investigate this a little more.

RCA Victor cutter distortion problems
I just bought a RCA victor record cutter that I am restoring. It has a presto cutter head with Brilliantone cutting needle. I have only had it for 2 weeks and just started experimenting with cutting music to plastic plates. I have set the machine so the cutter heads own weight holds the needle to th...
