Dear Brendan, I've seen your band!! I believe my acqaintance Quinn was involved in promoting you a few years back (still, maybe?) and I saw you at the Luna Lounge during...a bidding war? The details are hazy. The place was impossibly packed. The band rocked. Well, super cool to have you here. We may...

Anyone else here have a handcranker?

Anyone else here have a handcranker? This is Steve Hoffman's handcranker....same model as mine. I have a Brunswick Ultona from the 1920's. http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=17543&stc=1 http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/8966/stevehoffmansbrunswickck2.jpg It can play three...

Lost passwords? Trouble logging on?

I am aware that the automatic mechanisms of this board are occasionally making it hard for some people to log on. Feel free to email me if you need any help logging on, or need password reset, etc. It's actually fine to log on as a guest....the only cool part I can think of about using a consistent ...

Sewing needle playback or recording?????? That may not be a successful idea. It's a funny one, though, and I appreciate the experimentation. Never know what will work, ya know?

If you lost the needle, don't despair...you can probably get a decent replacement from Transco. Logan, stick around, and 10-4 on the mumbo-jumbo. I can't claim to understand the quark theory jive-talkin', but I likes. Keep rockin' :) I love my wire recorder!!! It's a Webster Chicago. I collect home ...

Dang, I've been a bad moderator and I need a spanking. I should have followed up on this long ago.

Can you supply a link to an example of a pencil board? I don't really know what you are talking about, but this seems like a really good lead.

RecordMan, welcome!! I can see that you are a very valuable addition to this board. Wow! That is a rich posting. What do you mean by the "high energy disks of the 50's thru the 80's"? Are you talking about: 1) the materials used in making the acetate, or 2) the qualities of the actual recordings (dy...

That is VERY intiguing. If anyone can supply any more info on this, or any links, book titles, etc, I would be super appreciative. That's the first I've heard of that, and it may be the answer I'm looking for.

Have you tried adjusting the depth of the cut? There's usually a control screw for that.

Heat helps, too!

This is awesome: the Walkman mellotron!

My friend Maegan just sent me a link to a guy who build a tiny Mellotron-like keyboard using Walkmans to make the sounds.

I've thought about that. It would require some rewiring. Sounds like a VERY cool project.

If your head has crumbled, West-Tech will fix it!! highly recommended.
