Rek-0-kut Challenger TR-12H Caps replacement
Hi Guys, I have a Rek-0-kut Challenger TR-12H and I would like to know where I can get caps for the Rek-0-kut (ROK). I am sure they don't make those nasty paper caps anymore and I guess they would have to be cross-referenced with other kinds. I have ordered a component tester and that would help ide...

Rek-0-kut Challenger TR-12H
Hi everyone, I am still having some trouble with the ROK. I tried to get the fuse out to check it and someone had screwed it in at an angle. Then when I tried to unscrew it, the casing broke in many pieces! In addition, the fuse will not release from the cap! I need another casing and wondering if a...

Rek-0-kut Challenger TR-12H
I just bought a Rek-0-Kut Challenger TR-12H on ebay. It comes without a cutting arm. You may have seen the ad. I also see from the pics that the speaker is gone. Don't know about the amp until I get it. It is so clean and neat, just had to grab it. Do any of you know where I can get a cutter arm for...

Re: Recordette 3 problems
Thanks for the info. I use a Recordio with a reel to reel tape player in the machine and it is very good. I use this machine to test my needles I sell on ebay. Jerry

Re: Recordio 1C10
I have a Recordio 1c-10. It works fine except the reel to reel stopped working, plus I can't get the platter off. Any clues?

Re: Recordette 3 problems
interesting! let us know how it goes. which Recordio do you have? I'm guessing the heavier recording arm helps a lot I need help with my Wilcox-gay Recordio. I use it to test my needles i make. I cannot get the platter off!! I have the original owners manual and it says to move the washer, tap the ...

Re: Recordette 3 problems
My Recordio is model 1C10. It works nicely. It doesn't have a heavy recording arm. It is also a tape recorder/player all combined but the tape function stopped working a few years ago. Perhaps it needs a tube, but I opened up the unit and didn't see any belts that were broken. They all looked new. I...

Re: Recordette 3 problems
Thanks for your reply. I would say you are right. I did play back the recording on another machine and as I had said it sounded muffled. Plus the cutting needle vibrates very little even when I turn the volume up when cutting. Now on my Recordio everything is fine. I can cut a disc and then play it ...

Recordette 3 problems
I have a Wilcox-gay Recordette 3. I had the cartridge rebuilt by West Tech and it plays beautifully. However, it had an original microphone that was bad, plus it was connected directly into the machine. I cut the microphone off and installed a modular jack where I could just plug a mic into the jack...

Re: Testing a cartridge to see if it works
That has been a while since I have done this. You may have to drill out the rivets.

Wilcox-Gay Recordette 3
I have a Wilcox-Gay Recordette 3 (3 speeds). I recently had the cartridge rebuilt by West Tech, and the records sound great. However, when I turn the switch on record (by mic) I don't hear my voice come through the speakers, and the amber light doesn't flicker as I talk. I also don't hear anything c...

Re: Testing a cartridge to see if it works
NEVER did I ever think in a thousand years I would have trouble finding a rivet to secure my X-26 rebuilt cartridge back together!!!!!! Pure hell! I went to Lowe's, Williams Electric (my area supplier) and Shields Electronics (another area supplier since Radio Shack closed). No one knew what in the ...

Re: Testing a cartridge to see if it works
I was going by what I heard when I put my ear near the X-26 cartridge after rebuild. I had a line from my Califone extension speaker (8 ohms 10 watts) to the cartridge when I played a record. I heard the record ok. I just had masking tape around the cartridge just to test, but now I will have to put...

Re: Testing a cartridge to see if it works
Hi Lathe guys, This is Jerry here. I am the seller of the cutting needles on ebay for $10 and the Tungsten ones for $15. I have done well in the year and half of sales. However, I have other cutters that need cartridge replacement (old crystal cartridges). I had one replaced about a year or so ago b...
