Re: The farmer and his plow - When I set out to build a record cutter
Thomas, once again, I take my hat off to your professional approach. I would also like to participate in the challenge by recording a Whitney Houston track. I'll be at the machine tomorrow. Our approach as a team is more practical. The goal we have set for ourselves is to donate a significant portio...

Fattcamp We bought this laser as a regular linear beam laser. It is not needed on a permanent basis and we gave it power from 18650 batteries, mounted it on a gooseneck and a magnetic base to easily use it on different machines. Attention: most cross lasers are connected to the + pole on the housin...

This suction tube looks great. We are currently using the tube mount on a moving platform and this sometimes creates problems when using blanks of different thicknesses. It requires some adjustment of the tube. In your version, the tube is always in the right place. Good job, Thomas!

Re: How to map and EQ your dynamic cutterhead
Here is my version of the head EQ setup. 0. Calibrate playback from the turntable to 0dB using a test record. Make notes on the level indicator (or remember) for different test cartridges, if there are several. Their output levels will be different. 1. Adjust the recording level in the computer, usi...

Re: Automatic groove speed controller for VR
For linear movement in cutters, the best option is a servo motor. The required power is selected depending on your "trolley". In my case, it rotates the shaft on a precision Hiwin linear drive, Delta A2/B2 100W motor, torque 0.32 kg/cm, 17-bit encoder, 131072 pulses/sec. Such motors work great at lo...

I use QSC GX3, simple, powerful and reliable. Sound quality, in my opinion, is quite decent, about its price on the secondary market is about 200 dollars/euro. For the second cutter I will buy QSC GX5.

Cheers for the answer ! By the leads you mean the lead out of the coils ? I guess so they do not restrict the coil's movement ? I didn't get what you mean with the "diffuser" or dampening. I know dampening on the pushrods is often used to tame resonances in the high frequencies, but I guess you mea...

Re: STANTON ST150 & OTHER SUPER OEM TT FOR CUTTING WITH EXAMPLES
I got good results with Numark TT500 and Stanton T120, speed fluctuations are possible on the edge of 12’’ disc. The problem can be partially solved by using an additional plater weighing up to 2.5 kg, but it is important that the motor and its support bearing are in order. Otherwise, you will get c...

Yes, the drivers are commercial tweeters, but pre-disassembled and modified. The positions of the coils are aligned as accurately as possible and reassembled so that the pair that will be on the head has the same characteristics, both in resistance and in frequency response and "quality factor" (the...

Re: Silent groove noise, anyone familiar with this sound?
You are absolutely right, the sound from the tube that sucks up the chips can affect the noise level. Keep it about 2 mm from the surface of the record and 2 mm from the cutter.

zdenec One of the digital versions of this recording is in the Google folder with digital versions. You can listen to it in detail. WAV format, sampling frequency 48 kHz. P.S.: No offense, but I'm not very interested in your expert opinion. But if you write something on the subject, welcome to the ...

I warned the trolls about the scam. Did you warn them about yourself? I know you're trying to glaze diamonds, but the way you chose is a complete aberration, it's just not how it's done. Although I am not an expert on this topic, but a layman, even a layman will quickly notice that diamonds are not...

I agree with Thomas about small steps. And I thank everyone (including those who support in private messages) and I don’t want to speculate on the topic of war. We will definitely succeed! But I'm very impatient! It’s a pity that I can’t share the excellent results right away. However, the process o...
