Re: Cutting and artistic rights
Yeah I got a cease and desist from a lawyer representing a US band. A client of mine ordered single copies for personal use of a few live recordings, which seemed unintended for official release by the band. I made the records, the client shared on instagram and boom I had a very serious cease and ...

Re: New: Phonocut Desktop Disc Cutter
I'll just say I'm glad I bought in early, I want to say I paid 1,800 eur? it's a no brainer for folks like me to stay in. like you all said, I trust the team and it makes sense that upscaling the manufacture presented some unknown hurdles. I would definitely debate whether to buy this type of machin...

I've worked full time on Presto 6N + T560 Vinyl Recorder machines for 9 years and 7 years respectively if that's helpful

Re: Best 78 cut for Victrola playback
yeah I've done it a bunch with the VR. I just crank the weight down as much as possible without stalling the blank, double check the groove depth in the scope, and play back with a fibre needle.

Re: VR - chip pickup tube with Caruso
Great news! Glad we could help. As for the cutting angle question... the stock VR head has a backwards biased cutting angle built into it (can't recall the exact degrees off the top of my head), so that's why it'll be approximately correct when the head is parallel to the blank. I still have to pla...

Re: VR - chip pickup tube with Caruso
parallel chip tube and some resetting of the heights worked! also happened that my clear plastic tube was clear of chip, but the copper tube had a little stuck in it, cleared that away and the positioning was much more forgiving. I ended up with something similar to the pic that Flo posted, for refe...

Re: VR - chip pickup tube with Caruso
hrm, ok! lots to chew on here. almost looks like the two screws at the back of the head are touching the tube in that last photo Flo? to Mike and Sue's point: I based my head angle off this pic, it's too much still? I know the VR head should be parallel, but I took this pic to mean the Caruso should...

Re: VR - chip pickup tube with Caruso
basically yeah, I'm finding the closed back and bottom of the head is what keeps the tube from getting closer in. the VR has the back and bottom wide open, aside from the two little tubes keeping the armature in place which I sneak the tube in between. here's my two setups, it doesn't look drastical...

VR - chip pickup tube with Caruso
I recently upgraded one of my T560's with the Caruso cutting head (thanks Flo!) but I'm having trouble with the stock chip tube and positioning with the new head. anyone have any solutions or thoughts on how to get the tube closer to the stylus? maybe some pointers from other lathes? It'd be great t...

Re: What Anti static spray
did you have any luck with the Myshank anti-static? I used that and it worked fine. I started making my own out of water and a few drops of dish soap, also good. these days I use water + 10 sprays of this: https://www.grove.co/catalog/product/wrinkle-release-spray/?v=3831 might be worth trying any r...
