Re: Rails & stepper motors
I have already carried out a large number of attempts with stepper motor drives. The following findings: 1. small motor (Nema 17) = small maximum torque larger motor (Nema 23) = larger maximum torque Differences in quality and torque in different models! 2. Low supply voltage of the motor driver (12...

Great story and entertaining to read! Also nice that you have highlighted them with pictures of the progress. Mishaps are part of it - thank you for sharing them - so I don't feel so lonely with my problems :-) Keep it up and I wish you continued success. (By the way, I've been waiting also for an a...

Re: First Test of My DIY Record Press
Hello Mark! It's just amazing what I see and hear here. I think it's fantastic what you have achieved here with relatively simple means. I think it is difficult enough to coat a blank record with nickel (making a son). But then also pressing the granulate into a finished record in your own press is ...

Re: Vacuum Pump Research
Hi, Thanks a lot for your replies. Really helpful to me! I just bought this 12V vacuum pump yesterday to see what I can get from it, using plastic jar using 6mm silicone tube. https://www.why.gr/en/%CE%BA%CE%B1%CF%84%CE%B1%CF%83%CF%84%CE%B7%CE%BC%CE%B1/open-hardware/motors-and-actuators/vacuum-pump...

Re: 1:10 conical reamer for Neumann Stylus DIY
Hi, It's really amazing that you make this with a reamer! I just 3d print (in aluminum) a torque tube with 1.38mm hole and the 1:20 cone seems that fits well. Don't test it yet, cause I'm building a new head for it. What kind of aluminum tube do you use exactly? check mine below: aluminum torque tu...

Thanks Dan for the tip!
I try to keep the sanding dust away from the machine as well as from my eyes, nostrils and other inevitable skin wounds.
In this way, the precision of Proxon and myself is largely retained.

Re: Making an embossing needle with an air spindle
Good work! The age and appearance of the machines has nothing to do with the quality. When it is used correctly, as is the case here, and the skill of the craft is present, good things can come about. Unfortunately, I'm working on a cutter and not on embossing, so I can't test the part either. But i...

1:10 conical reamer for Neumann Stylus DIY
I had the problem of finding a suitable reamer to drill the receptacle for a Neumann stylus into an aluminum or brass part. The pitch of the cone is 1:20 (on each side). A reamer is then referred to as a taper as 1:10. Sketch: Neumann Stylus.png Neumann Stylus 2.png In my search I came across...

Re: Cone made of carbon
Drilling holes definitely has an impact on sound and resonance. But I think that the influence of a stable carbon cone is much smaller than the gain that arises from the lower weight. As far as I can remember, there are many solutions to get to one point from the large diameter of the bobbin. For ex...

Re: Vacuum Pump Research
also search for the right pump. It is clear to me that it cannot be a piston pump so that the air flow does not pulsate. But the search for the right pump starts with the most important question: The question is which volume flow is necessary? (In liters per minute or m³/h, or CFM) And how strong sh...

Weight reduction by half thanks to additional drilling like a Swiss cheese. Re: Cone made of carbon
If alluminum, ¿Maybe a pyramid is stiffer than a cone? Because of the edges.. I don't know, just asking.. Maybe. I don't know. Somebody should try ?! But my goal is to get from a large round coil tube to a small round diameter of the drive rod. If the coil were square, I could imagine a pyramid sha...

Re: Cone made of carbon
Making the stencil in positive form was also my first thought. However, I ran into a couple of problems. First, I can't reinforce the top. In my negative form, I can put two more layers of carbon fiber on the inside of the tip of the cone. If I now drill a 3mm hole in the finished state to attach th...

Thank you for sharing your experiences with aluminum cans cones. (Very helpfull). The carbon fibre is a 200g/m². 20211005_163258.jpg Carbongewebe-200g-Koeper.jpg Today I have done versions with 2-layer. - It is still strong enought to stand on it. Cone made of carbon
Cone made of carbon I would like to present my first experiences with the production of cones from carbon. In the first attempt I made 2 cones with 90 degrees. The smaller cone was made with 3 layers of carbon fiber, has an outer diameter of 22mm and a height of 9.7mm (with a 3mm hole for the drive ...
