No, open source is nothing I would consider at the moment.
But I've been in touch with Tokyo Dawn Labs who recently presented a similar, VST based tool and maybe we can create some open standard or code derived from both products down the road.

Since I've started looking more into the VMS70, I'm glad I started out with the 80 – otherwise I would have lost hope pretty early on

If you have calibrated the software to your studio and lathe levels – i.e. what does 0 dBFS cut in cm/s – it will show you how much capacity of the record your tracks will use.
