Re: Measuring weight/counterweight?

Thanks. And worked?
I'm always having a hard time to measure with the Presto Cutter head.

Re: Measuring weight/counterweight?

Sorry to bump this up, but what kind/type of spring scale are you using?
Tried one (Pesola Micro-Line Spring Scale 30g) but did not work.

Thanks

Re: Volume change dramatically from one day to another

I took the cutter head of the lathe. Than remove the back screw on the head. Removed the back cover. Than using a thick paper, removed the 'dust' that you see in this picture. You can see that the magnets have some small pieces in there. Between the small hole where you attach your stylus. Hope this...

Re: Volume change dramatically from one day to another

Thanks.
I just needed to clean the armature.
Lots of 'dust' blocking.

Volume change dramatically from one day to another

Hi All I'm having some weird volume/quality issue today. I have my Presto 6N setup with a 224 LPI and a 160 LPI. Using a Diamond stylus. I have a few cuts yesterday with both LPI's and all is good. Sounds great. Great volume, pitch, depth,... But today, for some reason that I can't explain, the volu...

Re: DIY heated stylus

Bryan's procedure instructed you to start out with the current adjust control all the way down. On many power supplies, this will keep the supply from generating any voltage output since it is technically in current limit (limit = 0). Mark nailed it. Sorry for the error! For sure. Thanks guys for t...

Re: Vacuum Vibration on recordings

Hey.
I don't have a VR. But with my Presto 6N cutting with diamond I had the same problem.

What I needed to do was reduce the LPI a little and adjust the vacuum tube near the stylus (2mm).

Hope this helps

Re: Skipping issue with diamond.

Ok. I could fix that "echo" adjusting my levels.

Now I hear the vacuum in the background.

Damn.

Re: Skipping issue with diamond.

Ok looks like if I adjust the weight on my playback tonearm the skipping is not happening anymore.

If I have more that 0.5 than start skipping. Too much weight skip.

Re: DIY heated stylus

cool. Gotcha.

So is setup to 6 volts and around 400 mA.
if I'm correct 400mA = 0.4 amps. :D

let's start with that and see how it goes

thanks

How can I measure the groove width? Like 2-4 mil,... Any tools?
My scope didn't have any.

Re: Skipping issue with diamond.

Yes. All the same.

Think that maybe I'm going to deep.

If I go down the volume like 10% starts getting a little echo on the first seconds when start cutting

Yes. 224 lpi.
For some reason some parts of the track are skipping. Not sure why. Not crossing.

Re: DIY heated stylus

Looking at mine, I think is something wrong. Set to Volts. Current all the way down. No wires. Adjust the volts knob and nothing happens. If I adjust the current a little bit, than I can adjust the volts. When I switch to mA nothing happens if I adjust the knob. I think this is a different one. http...

Skipping issue with diamond.

Hi all. Recently I was doing some cuts with diamond and I notice that some part of music have some skipping issue. Not sure if is the depth of cut, too much volume, too much weight,... Also if I have less volume some weird echo appears on the beginning of the discs. I'm using a Presto 6N with MyShan...

Re: 6N Vacuum Set-Up

Ok. I made some modifications to my setup and this is working great so far. Just a small aluminum tube directly to the latex to the jar. I know the tape is not a good idea, but works. No static and I can get all the chip. http://anderson-oliveira.com/IMG_5058.JPG http://anderson-oliveira.com...
