Re: Anyone know any <200 turntables with lots of torque?

Look for a second hand Technics 1200 mk2. They're indestructible. Reasonable second hand price. I've heard they have a lot of wow and flutter. Was going to use an MK2 (I have a spare) for a project but after lots of reading and feedback from some of the cutting OG's I decided to not go that route. ...

Re: Xray records

Anyone tried cutting one of this using a Vinylrecorder recently? I did ask Souri a couple years ago and he told me it was possible but I'd destroy the stylus FAST, Haven't tried it yet, which is a pitty 'cause I could get an endless supply of X-Rays if I wanted...

Wanted: clear vinyl discs

Hi, I'm looking for 1.5 mm clear vinyl discs for my Vinylrecorder.

Anyone here know where can I get some? I really hate to adjust the cutter head's heigth everytime I have to switch from my usual 1.5 mm black vinyl to the 2mm clear vinyl discs...

Europe only, please.

Dr. Dub... please, can you recommend me brand/model?

I also thought about the dentist pump, plus it should be already used to "dirty jobs", he, he, ...

In the meantime I'll use a second hand Nilfisk GM 80 vacuum, see how much it lasts...

Vinylrecorder suction: vacuum or pump?

Six years have passed since I bought my Vinylrecorder from Souri and finaly the Thomas junior vacuum died, not bad. Extremely noisy but efficient. So time has come to purchase a new suction device... I've been reading older topics about this issue but I still have doubts, could you please recommend ...

"Double check the fuse and the connection in/around the fuse, I've had those go on me before. What level were you cutting at on the meter? After talking with other users I learned I cut rather conservatively, level wise. But it saves me a lot of stress, especially with the quantity I'm cutting." Wow...

Just blew one channel on my VinylRecorder...

Hi everyone here, haven't posted anything in a long time. First of all, Happy Christmas to everyone! Second... I bought a Vinylrecorder from Souri six years ago, never used it as a pro, just as a hobby. I think I've gone over all the different phases with it: fear, hate... finally LOVE. I've cut sev...

Track Jumping with Vinylrecorder

Hey, I have a problem, probably easy solution, it's just that this is the first time it happens to me. I'm trying to cut a 12" record and it always happens the same: all songs will be cut perfectly except for the last song on one of the sides. On the live recording I'm trying to cut, the singer scre...

the fishtank pumps work good with laquers, but we had troubles sucking in pvc chip. for some reason chip clogged up in the hose... we buy a new vacuum every 2 years or so. industrial type "kärcher" models. they don't last to long. expect them to fail... Re: Isolating vacuum unit.

Hi, Been using a Vinylrecorder for 3 years now. This last year I've been cutting at least 10 times as much as the previous years. I bought Souri's vacuum when I bought the cutter and set it in a different room, but this year I think it's starting to get old. It kinda "smells", it looks perfect, it's...

Re: Vinyl Recorder - Stylus heating HELP PLEASE!

Ok, I remind you all I'm not a proffessional at all. This is my experience after using the Vynilrecorder sporadicly for the last 2.5 years: At the beginning I used to cut with no heat at all. After one year or so, I would always cut at a temperature of 35... I guess I tried it once with a used stylu...

Re: Dissappearing grooves!

Sure! I already thought that, but I'm cutting without the extra motor, I'm only using my Technics turntable. If I add weight to the cutting stylus the Techhnics motor will slow down and distortion will appear. This, in my opinion is the biggest problem with Souri's cutter: the basic equipment will m...

Re: Dissappearing grooves!

Are you using Souri's automatic switcher?? Sometimes the sensor gets too close to the counter weight arm.. Especially if you are switching thicknesses.. For example from a 2mm disc to a flexi... Counterweight arm goes up higher and the sensor for auto switcher can limit the range of vertical moveme...

Re: Vinylrecorder and blank disks

Ok, I asked Souri about this issue. This was his criptic answer: - Is it better to store them horizontally? (makes no sense to me) No - Is it possible to "de- bend" them? (maybe heat + weight) No - Is this a usual problem with thin blanks? No - Maybe not so usual with 180 gr discs? No And that's it,...
