Howdy .. and happy holidays:
I have been pulled into a discussion with vinyl audiophiles and the question came up. So - what is the realistic achievable maximum frequency for 33 1/3 rpm records with state of the art equipment?

Re: about lifetime of stylus (with vinyl recorder T560)
How do you guys check that weight 10g? 16g? its rather impossible with Souri's tool. I mean maybe if you are VERY delicate you can judge +/- 5g, but in reality the "Error rate" is bigger. I've tried to do it with small scale unit but placing carefuly stylus on it I destroyed the tip... So.. how>? I...

Any post-production mastering wizards here?
Howdy ..
I am currently mastering a few vintage audios for re-publishing. I could use an audio wizard with vintage experience to look over my shoulder or to help me with a few problematic parts. Contact me via PM.
Thanks.

Re: Lathe DIY - Lead Screw - Stepper motor
i do not agree that with the motion of the cutter head because as you can see on the picture the fairchild overhead drive mechanism has gears like a stepper motor. i had modified my fairchild overhead with a stepper motor and it works very nice the only problem is the rumble at lead in - out groove...

Re: Lathe DIY - Lead Screw - Stepper motor
I am aware of this problem. I will try different size stepper motors driving a belt to reduce noise - so that shouldn't be a problem. I am more concerned about the motion of the cutter head. A 'normal' motor will spin continuously while a stepper motor will pause between steps - it's just a semi 'co...

So .. the spindle off a say Technics is actually hollow? One would have to cut of the top and drill a little hole under the record and that would be it?sameal wrote:If you look close you can see the drilling. It goes out to about the center of the platter

Lathe DIY - Lead Screw - Stepper motor
Howdy folks: I was wondering if there is good combination between lead screw pitch and stepper motor specifications to get as close as possible to a perfect spiral. I am thinking about buying a 8mm pitch lead screw stage and power it with a stepper. My first calculations boil down to about 4 steps/s...

You are supposed to be able to sync Tascam DA-3000 with external clock sources. I have only one unit, so .. no need to sync.gold wrote: Has anyone successfully synced two DSD boxes with an offset ?

Re: Cutting from DSD sources ...
Our iRIAA has an "low pass" filter practically eliminating everything above 25khz on input. Rest is up to the analog chain.

Cutting from DSD sources ...
Fellow Trolls: High quality audio is more and more getting into focus. A few of you may already be cutting from DSD sources, so I thought I share my experiences. We are using a TEAC UD-301 USB DAC that converts FLAC and DSD into analog audio. It can be hooked up to almost all computers, including Li...

Re: Deep Grooves Mastering - Project Bladerunner
Hey .. just a short question: How much is the weight of the cutter head when it's ready? I am currently designing my own lathe and would like to have a feeling about the weights I will have to deal with.
Thanks.

Re: Pressing Shellac Records?
From a commercial point of viw this is nuts not viable Hobby wise there is no issue time is of no consequence It takes $$ to put the key in the door every day in any pressing plant Its not the norm to have two people screwing around for a week or two figuring it out when there is 3-5 months of back...
