Re: Quiet Cutter Amp Advice

The fans in those amps are probably pc case fans I'm guessing. They make silent running fans as replacements and a handful of them are pretty suprising. If you're really lucky they just plug into the pcb with a connector. Also if they mount to the case itself you can replace the screws with a type o...

Re: Presto 8dg monster fuse removal

Cool channel (Junkyard Studio)! Looking forward to Part 2 of the Presto video. Thanks! I have it half filmed right now. I'm trying to get faster at videos but i tend to work on 4 things at a time. I need to focus more on one or two, but sometimes it's refreshing and helps clear the mind to jump betw...

Re: Presto 8dg monster fuse removal

"Is it double-fused as a protection against polarity reversals / phase-to-ground?" No, it actually had no ground connected from the 120vac coming in. When i replaced the cracking two prong for a 3 i ran the ground, but haven't connected it to the table. I think judging by the schematic i could conne...

Presto 8dg monster fuse removal

Has anyone successfully replaced the mega fuse block on their presto 8dg? From what i understand of electricity and everything ive been told and seen in operation you should not fuse both legs of your 120v. Which the presto does, with fuses probably rated for industrial machinery, when the presto is...

Re: My stereo cutterhead build.

Revised some build points, rivnuts work way better then tapping aluminum, but the quality of the threads in them leave much to be desired. I also should have measured the mounting holes I put in, as they are starting to get in the way of one another. But I guess that's what version 2 is for. On to t...

Re: Presto 8dg refurb. (Lathe porn)

I got a photo of the inner workings of the overhead I figured might help some people troubleshooting. My overhead would just stop running, and I believe it was one of these little arms was not behind the retainer clip.

I moved them out of the way in the photo because I'm going with a motor.

Re: My stereo cutterhead build.

Might have to name this one Frankenstein's monster, what with the bolts all sticking out. Had some failed aluminum threading on the mount block, which I should know better, but I did anyway. So that'll have to get fixed. I'm thinking of just popping some rivet nuts in there instead of cutting a whol...

Re: My stereo cutterhead build.

I haven't touched the amp in awhile. I might just use a solid state instead. I figured the v-spring and pushrod part was first.

I have no experience with feedback. Just some reading. I haven't wound a coil either.

Re: My stereo cutterhead build.

I'm back to playing with this idea in-between other projects on hold for parts. I think I got the v-spring mount idea kinda nailed down and the pushrods for the speakers. I found these military connecter pins that fit into the candy funnels perfectly, which I think I'll dab them in some silicone and...

Re: Magnet in Webster cutterhead

Well. It's a Webster, so I'm not too worried about originality. I found an alnico magnet that will fit with minimal cutting. I might try it out. I kinda stopped doing anything music related for a year or so. I'm trying to get myself back into it, and that presto is on the list. I'm currently waiting...

Magnet in Webster cutterhead

Hello!

Has anybody played with changing the magnet or any other mod to the Webster cutterhead? What magnet is in there to begin with?

I'm toying with idea of modifying it, cause let's face it, I got nothing to really loose.

Re: refurbish rusty t560 racks

If you have to gut them to properly refinish them, it might be easier to just transfer them into a new case that is already painted. Eagle one/never dull is awesome at getting rid of rust provided it isn't pitted. For the rusted pots, take the knobs off with two spoons as pry bars under the knob. Ma...

Homebrew l.p.i. motor and control panel

I originaly made this setup for my 8dg. I don't think it was fast enough and ive moved in another direction. It's a bbq motor and a pwm controller with power supply. Room for expansion in the capps style box.

Before i toss it back on the hack pile i thought id offer it for sale or trade. 50$?
