Very unfortunate, looked so promising with the purchase of the plating business.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmtYTuMjx_A A docu of Coldplay on 70% recycled and 30% virgin PET injection molded records at Sonopress. Very nice to have a look in the kitchen at Sonopress, as far as i understand they designed their mouldpackages from scratch or are they Laserdisc mouldpackages? An...

Re: Pressing Plant Actual Starting Cost
Yes i have read about Cook Microfusion, much easier to start up but downside is you will stay at hobbylevel production with very slow cycletimes and you still need stampers. If i wanted to go in that direction i would have gone into lathe cutting. My project as in recordpressing will stay hobby as l...

Re: Pheenix AD12's At Zenith Records
What about stacks of records in innersleeve (or also in outersleeves in some cases) from the automatic sleeving units and letting them breathe out / settle for 24 hours? A common way of working in factories no matter the product outside recordpressing to prevent defects. Does the sleeves prevent pro...

Re: Pressing Plant Actual Starting Cost
I think its not easy to give a detailed overview of costs here open and public for all non-contributers reading along and without biting you in the tail later on. My project is hobby based and the goal is a converted hydraulic press to a semi-auto press with the usual what is needed to press records...

Re: Vinyl Record Pressing Plants The raise of the Pheonix and back to ashes?
As one of the few newcomers on here that actually says something (and doesnt care to look like a fool) i dont think things are that extreme as they appear at first sight. As long as you keep your investment as low as possible and dont put all your eggs in one basket it will turn out just fine. A lot...

Re: Vinyl Record Pressing Plants The raise of the Pheonix and back to ashes?
There is an interesting episode of a Nashville based podcast called "Music Citizens" that just came out. Without having any prior knowledge of the record manufacturing industry they dive right into the over capacity issue that Moss and I are here prattling on about. Check it out: https://podcasts.a...

Re: Pheenix AD12's , What have they done to them!!!
Sounds like quite an adventure in Ireland. Thank you very good info on the plumbing work, this will sure come in usefull, good practice not to mix it up. If a steel pipe holds up 15 years without rust or other problems its good enough. Yes in some online reportage you see a bookmould type press, may...

Re: Pheenix AD12's , What have they done to them!!!
Hello Chris, sounds like your haul needs some work as it often goes with a sharp deal. Very interesting what you came across so far, some are recognisable from work but didnt had the idea to apply it to a recordpress. Was there anything left unsold from the M Com Musique auction? I saw they also bui...

Re: Making Vinyl 2024 Haarlem My impressions
Around the time of the Making Vinyl weekend in Haarlem Pheenix Alpha released a video of their operations and introducing a glue foldingmachine for recordcovers. Did that get anymore attention at Making Vinyl? Is it running allready somewhere? More footage? I think this is a really interesting branc...

Allways interested in the topics covered, to bad the ticket price is a little steep for me. Can do a bunch of other things for that money but in the future i definitely want to visit. Nice to read your take on it.

Re: Vinyl Record Pressing Plants The raise of the Pheonix and back to ashes?
Offcourse it is both times processing plastic, and what kind of profit you can make out of it, weight of material processed as against $$$ income - dead right. My point is pressing 2 records a minute has still a better margin with a pressing setup of 300k then a injectionpress that does 1500 caps a ...

Re: Vinyl Record Pressing Plants The raise of the Pheonix and back to ashes?
Great additions to this topic gentleman, great insight in todays (vinyl) production industry. Perhaps confronting but to the point. As a hobbyist there is not much what i can say about it, easy talking from the side, kinda makes me doubt to add to this topic but anyway... Comparing compression moldi...
