Hi Paul, Sorry if that sounded like it was directed to you. I was inspired to bring that up after reading the dialogue just as a point of interest. I understand your point to Serif now. More on this topic, It seems like "audiophiles" are not just into the steely Dan type records anymore. There's som...

Exactly, I was thinking the same thing. What's Hi-Fi. What's audiophile? I define Audiophile as ANYONE who is listening to audio/music quality on a conscious/critical level regardless of they're system. There are so many ways the neumann lathes use of space can be configured, it's just a matter of a...

Man, that is a sad sight... I researched shipping companies but in the end just could not justify the cost and risk of having it done. We disassembled and packed mine up in a Penske truck and drove it straight through from New Jersey to Southern California in 46 hours. I was nervous about leaving it...

Thanks Josh, Thats some info I,m happy to know.. Any info is good to hear. I,m interested in the history of cutting, the history of these lathes, we learn from history, we learn from stories that can be told from our lathes and where they,ve been and that makes it important, to me at least. I,m sure...

Cool, Thanks for the input Paul, I really appreciate it. That's the kind of info I find interesting. I did get that impression from Al as well. I can appreciate the fresh start perspective, but at the same time, you can't help but wonder where this old thing has been and/or what it's been through. N...

Club Grundy VMS lathe history

I've got a question regarding past history of our lathes.. Last year, I acquired a Grundy assembled vms-70. I regret not having asked Al directly where exactly it came from. Bonati mentioned some were from Sterling and others from Masterdisk. Does anybody care to comment or add some knowledge about ...

Thanks Andybee!

I guess the only way to have it make sense is to find somebody local.
There was a guy here who used to do it back in the day, but that was a very different time...

Ok Have a great weekend,

Hi Mart, Can your Jeweler company reshape/sharpen used transco styli? If so, you'd be selling them like crazy. If all of us cutters sent in our used styli to a specialized Jeweler who could do this, then sell them back for half the price of a new one we'd love it. I'm interested in your thoughts on ...

Hi Opcode,

We use a few 1 inch velcro strips on our
other vms 70. It actually has a pretty snug fit and prevents the door panel from rattling. It's also super easy to get on and off. those push buttons can be a little fiddley, at least mine are.

Thanks for the input guys.

Thanks Opcode, that's more what I was looking for.
In the end, I'm going to send it over to a guy with experience in
calibrating them.

Thanks again,

@opcode
To see if it,s displaying level a difference....I,m not implying anything about how it,s used.
There,s a difference of about 1db between off and bypass on mine, which isn,t right.
Was wondering if your,s or anyone elses displayed similar differences.
I left a message with Al today.

If you run a tone through it, do you get any level difference between "Bypass" and "off"?

Thanks Opcode,

I've got the paper and the pdf schematics.

I de-ess in the signal chain, but I like to have the A.L. in the chain as a safety percussion.
