Re: Presto Model Y Lathe
Thanks for the info. I was hoping there may have been someone in Oz that someone had sourced. I’ll look into Terry’s and see how it goes. Cheers. How did you go with this? I have some old Aussie broadcast turntables I've been meaning to source parts for for rest etc. Good to know any Australian res...

Hey there,
Is this the one Rick might have mentioned to me the other day?
Did you find an amplifier in the end?
Cheers,
Evan (Melb)

Re: Nilsen 3UZ (Melbourne) early commercial lathe (1940's?)
Yes, it's a lovely thing..
I have had some interest, but cost of shipping internationally is a bit of a limitation.
Still open to offers, and would like to work something out soon if possible. So get in touch if you're interested.
Thanks

Nilsen 3UZ (Melbourne) early commercial lathe (1940's?)
Hi folks. I have this commercial cutting lathe from the 3UZ production studio at 45 Bourke St, Melbourne (circa 1940's?) Bill Armstrong (of Armstrongs Recording Studio / AAV, Melb) told me he remembered there being two of them at the Bourke St studio. I believe they were used to cut productions bein...

Re: Need helpo getting a Presto up and running
PS. mine looks like the one on the left in this pic: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y108/Karlfalcon/Audio/STA70522_zps999c5fd4.jpg - Except mine is more "road worn", and the brown crinkle paint is flaking off the metal base section (which the platter is mounted to), and the head is Audax rather th...

Re: Need helpo getting a Presto up and running
Nice looking unit. I have a similar machine, but I think it's older (brown colour-scheme) but also marked as TYPE K on the front panel. Mine was unfortunately in advanced "ratty" condition when I got it recently, so I'm slowly trying to work out what restoration is needed to get it up and running.. ...

Presto 40-A's
Does anyone here know, would these pre-amps ("Type 40-A") have been used directly running into a record cutting lathe, or more likely a signal pre-amp, for microphones, etc? I'm thinking of having them modified for recording mic's etc. More info and circuit diagram here: http://www.preservationsound...

Re: Presto Recording Amp Wanted
Hi: Looking for a Presto 85E Amp. 85A would be second choice. These are in a portable case. Thanks. Doug I have a couple of PRESTO "Type 40 A" (microphone) pre-amps, from the same era, apparently mostly used as a companion to the 85 A and E recording amplifiers. They are missing a few transformers ...

Grampian RA4 info
Hey guys, I have a Grampian "Type RA4" cutting amp. Says "RA4-A" on the back panel badge. I'm in Melbourne, Australia. Anyone interested in purchasing it? I haven't used it, but it looks in reasonable condition. A once-over would be advised. Four KT66 output tube design. Lovely. Cheers, Evan.
