That's the thing, I did check them and they played fine on all three tables I test on, a 1200, a shitty portable and a mid line jvc. He was referred to me from another person I've done records for here actually and I never had a bitch from him and he has sold all his records with no problems. Right...

Be polite. Be firm. I'd ask him to send them back so you can check them out. If he pitches a fit about shipping costs (which it sounds like he will) then I'd offer him a break to get rid of him. He'll probably feel like he got over and go away. I wouldn't worry about a crank spewing vitriol. It's pr...

Don't get anything with an MOV. They are worse than having nothing at all. They deteriorate and introduce distortion into the line. That's what most of them are because they are cheap. The PSU's for the SAL 74 and VMS70 are very beefy. They should do well. Get something like a Surge X if you really ...

Hey Nickou, The machine is only a few months old. I have only cut one record for production and it's not out yet. It's by Wheatus. I'm not sure when the release date is. I don't anticipate the machine getting much use. It's there if anyone needs it! I'm building a very elaborate A/B path console and...

I have the only 1" 2 track preview deck in existence. Custom made by Dan Zellman and John French. I also have 1/4" and 1/2" A80 preview decks.

They were good people. They must have been in over their heads though. It will be nice to have another place on the east coast. Good luck!

Amazingly enough they managed to put out a decent record. They couldn't stick to any kind of schedule. Probably because nothing worked and they didn't routinely send out bad records.

The EE66 and EE70 are the same circuit. The EE70 was just a new board layout. This one uses an inductor in the crossover so is not not really suitable for cloning. I had a board laid out for the EE77. The circuit is the same but there are some improvements. The FET switching was removed. I'm using a...

How do you insure that the signal coming from both devices is the same intensity? Calibrate both so X dBfs= X dBu. Usually with a 1K sine wave. Make sure to use a true RMS volt meter. You could check the frequency response but I've never run into a DAC that didn't have virtually flat frequency resp...

Higher quality external converters are a better. You pay a lot for a little the further up the chain you go. I used a Lynx2 for years and the conversion quality is very good. No need to give any refunds. Then I used a Lavry Blue. It was better. Now I use a Prism DA2 which is better than both but a z...

Here's some general info I found: Have to run a positive polarity "blip" through the lathe chain then check the microscope scope after the cut to see it's initial direction to see if it's towards or away from disc center... And don't forget the microscope on the lathe reverses the image. That could...

We are at cross purposes I never mentioned groove width Do not understand why you are going down that path I spoke about curvature of the groove That's why I asked in the above post if that's what you meant. "Alot" to me meant yes. The numbers you quoted look like groove depth numbers not wavelengt...

Care to elaborate? I don't see how groove depth has anything to do with either. But especially current draw. I have never seen a difference in current draw whether the head is dropped and cutting or not cutting. Groove depth can affect distortion if there is mistracking due to a shallow groove and a...

At those current levels you would finish up with a 2.6 micron groove curvature and High Freq distortion So to get a 15 micron groove curvature or 0.6 mils so the stylus can ride there the acceleration is kept down to a low enough level so as to provide for that By groove curvature do you mean groov...

The breaker should be set closer to 2 amps or 200ºC. You will most likely run into playback distortion way before you pop the breaker. Sustained high frequency is worse than something of short duration. The power rating of the SX74 is rated in Joules. Joules is defined as Watts per Second. You could...
