Hi, I did do some experiments adding feedback to my Presto 1D head. In that attempt, I basically did what the Grampian does. I added a second winding that allowd me to close the loop around the magnetic flux generated in the head. So, the feedback tended to correct only for low frequency effects (m...

IT NEVER PAYS TO BE A PIONEER

Generally anything can be built given the motivations. But should you? I would say building a head would only make sense if you are going for a nice feedback design and had exact specifications for everything in detail (practically impossible). Otherwise, you may be building something experiemental ...

Have you tried heat to the stylus yet? I'm just thinking heat might help groove down further into the plastic without making more background noise.

Of course, it might be months before i get around to actually doing anything with it, but i'll let you guys know how it turns out. I'm highly tempted to start ordering the laquer too as I have about 10 dubs that I ruined both s...

General question about cutter heads and feedback

Right now I am using a Presto 1D head that I bought off of ebay. I was wondering if anyone knew what the frequency response for this type of head is supposed to be. When I use a new stylus the 78rpm dubs I cut sound really good to me. So it is unclear to me whether or not it would be worth it to upg...

What head are short shank stylus used for?

Hi, Just found about this forum and this is my first post here! Anyway, I mistakenly bought a big bag of styli (really cheap) off ebay that I thought I was going to use on my Presto 1D head. But when I got them I discovered that the shafts were really short, like only about 1/8" long. After a whole ...
