Another broker. Furnace Mfg has a new video up : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qvx6F241zY In it they talk about "their factory" as if they own a pressing plant. This was my comment: You say "pressed at Furnace" and "our this" and "our that" but all I see here is the Record Industry factory in Hol...

The listing said you could do a bank transfer. Those are only about $25. That would be cheaper than .05% on $7k = $350 in paypal fees. I would buy it if I had the extra coin. It is sort of a gamble though. The listing says it was checked out by Sean Davies. But, that is still a certain amount of tr...

You guys kill me

My apologies if at 4.5k gbp the head is a bit expensive for our Stateside brothers but if anyone in the US actually wants to make me an offer I am all ears. For anyone in europe the price only represents 20-30 12inch singles. Re the condition of the head I will happily supply all the test data to any...

D
I would do some more test cuts at different levels but with old masters that you know were ok,It sounds to me (if you pardon the pun)That what you are hearing is the resonant frequency of the playback cartidges with the Concord being the worst offender (in my opinion).

Hello D,
Can you hear this noise on the feedback monitor whilst cutting?
Are you using Concord playback stylus?

Ortofon cutting heads

Speaking with Len Horowitz of HRS he said his 4 words of advice about Ortofon cutterheads was "stay away from them" LOL Len is talking sense. Let me be clear on this the Ortofon heads (Blue Black Red Green) Were up until recently the best sounding heads ever produced (in my opinion) But they are ve...

I'd say the DSS 821 cutterhead would be the one to get as it was the most robust of them all

Even so you still cannot get any decent level out of an Ortofon head, believe me i have tried

hmmm. let the helium run through a glas (gold is even better) pyramide with a germanium (99.98) cube of exactly (sqrt(5)+1)/2 side lengt inside. this gives you another 2 extra dBs in the highs. and the sound becomes incredible transparent. also i can swing the best place for your lathe in your stud...
