Video : Pressing in Jamaica

A spot for keeping track of especially cool (informative, fun) videos, photos, scans and other links about record cutting. (You can post them in other sections. Eventually they may end up here.) NOTE: Please put *Circuits, Schematics and Manuals* in the section with that name.

Pressing in Jamaica. 1977. Unlnown plant, unknown presses. Why trim the edge of 7" records when you can punch them instead? Punch the flash and dink at the same time.

yes! this is a sample from the movie "roots rock reggae",
very good doku from the 70ies.
Nowadays, jamaica produces only a very small amount
of 7inches  compared to the "good old days".
Soundboys don´t pay for music.... another story...
The dinker is good yes, take care of your fingers :)
I like to know, how much plants still produce at JA,
maybe 2 or 3 ? any info about this?

It's from the movie "Rockers" (1978), directed by Theodoros Bafaloukos. The pressing plant is either Dynamic or Tuff Gong - I could find that out. The record shop is Randy's.

Actually it's not a documentary but a feature film. Due to a lack of funds and all the people (musicians) featured playing more or less themselves, it became a documentary.

It's really worth watching in full.

Best,

I may have confused that. In "Rockers" there's footage that was shot at the exact same locations: the pressing plant and Randy's. I'll have a look later on.
And I want to reommend that movie again, after seeing it I bet you'll keep on repeating certain quotes. Hilarious!
