List of Movies with a cutting lathe

A spot for keeping track of especially cool (informative, fun) videos, photos, scans and other links about record cutting. (You can post them in other sections. Eventually they may end up here.) NOTE: Please put *Circuits, Schematics and Manuals* in the section with that name.

so my pretty short list:

-michael mann /public enemies.2009 --Prestos?
-coen brothers / oh brother where art thou.2000 -- presto 6N

A little off-topic but how about that TV show with Sonny Bono (of Sony & Cher fame) who was managing a band or something, got stuck and bootlegged the band's new album. It showed Alpha Toolex auto presses in an American presing plant, churning out the bootlg LPs. Maybe there was a shot of the cutting room too - I don't remember.

with sean penn.

in this one i've been told there is a scully and that they had to do some tricks to run it on three phase power because of the film studio it was shot at.

i know where the lathe is at and it's covered with dust now and the owner wants like $30.000.

While technically it's a TV series and not a "movie", I'm pretty sure I saw an episode of HBO's "Carnivale" where Tommy Dolan (I think it was) used a portable record cutter. I'm not sure exactly what episode, but it was somewhere around here: http://www.hbo.com/carnivale/episode/season1/episode07.shtml

On an episode of 'Remember WENN' the station gets a portable Presto 6N that's shown briefly. Don't remember if you just see the machine or if they actually use it later in the program.

In a film called " The Beatniks" there is a recording session at Universal studios with a Scully lathe and other vintage recording equipment around the late 50's to early 60's.
