I was just reminded of this older thread while watching a remake of an Agatha Christie story, re-titled for the BBC in 2015 as, "And Then There Were None".
In Episode 1, a record is shown being cut, which contains allegations against the ten characters who are ultimately picked off one at a time, for various offenses.

As of the time I'm posting this, the story is on Apple TV; someone has also posted it on youtube:

At approximately 4:18 in the first episode, there is a pretty good view of the lathe, although I'm not familiar with the model being used.
