I highly recommend Todd!

He's repaired seven of my Presto 1C/1D heads and he stands by his repairs. He cleans up the guts, rewires, can rewind your 500 ohm heads to 8ohms, etc.

And best of all, he's one of the oldest and most established members of the board. I lost 5 cutter heads to various repair guys who popped up and then disappeared, and it's a godsend to have someone reliable that is known quantity working on them. Todd has his hands in so many vinyl projects, Bladerunner Stereo Cutterhead, Groove Graphics, etc.

The old adage of "Cheap, Quick, or Good: Choose two, because you can't get all three" actually doesn't apply now. His prices are very reasonable, his turn time is quick, and the repairs are done right!

here to echo the sentiments of others,

Todd rewound my original 1D to 8 ohm, among a host of other tune ups and checks.
the attention to detail, precision, and especially documentation and service was very well worth it.
I highly recommend Todd's repair to anyone, with any level of head, and any level of understanding.
He'll help you through the process, and you will come out with a great working head, as well as a bit more understanding of how it works, and how Todd helped to keep it in top shape.

I feel very comfortable knowing Todd is around if anything should go awry with any of my heads.

Just got the word that my Presto 1D heads are ready for shipment after total overhaul. Todd's work looks clean and detail oriented. I'm stoked!

He sent me this video of testing the heads:

I just got my Pierre Clemente and Recordio cutterheads back from Todd. I got bounced around to a lot of people who were afraid to take on those machines because they'd never seen or even heard of them before, Todd was excited to do the work and got them cleaned up and singing as if they were new out of the box again. He took great care of me, answered all of my questions, kept in contact throughout the project and now that they're back in my hands, and had a quick turn around. I'd highly recommend!

I've completed a number of cutterhead repairs since I last posted. This helps me with my cutterhead development in some ways with respect to a more concrete understanding of the basic physics. This work also establishes me and my craft as being unquestionable and demonstrable. I am now a known quantity to the extent that I now have an SX68 on the bench for repair! That is also very good news for myself and the community here in the USA.

Just to let anyone with a Presto that is missing springs or has broken or worn out springs know that I have sorted out cloning them myself. I tried to have some one make them for me. But, they were not durable enough and bent/collapsed under the pressure once installed. I then set out to understand how to make them. It is not particularly hard... As long as you have the right tool. I had to make my own bending/forming tool. You take hardened steel pins and torch them to red hot, use a custom bending/forming tool, immediately quench in cool water, trim to length, grind the ends to smooth balls, thoroughly clean, and Nickel plate. This is what the final results look like. Please contact me if you are in need of these cloned parts or have a head to send me. I can repair any mono cutterhead and am now taking Neumann SX and Westrex heads.

I can now also fix up worn plating on the frame and pole pieces. Nickel, not chrome. Looks fine nonetheless... Won't tarnish like the bare brass does. $20 additional fee. Some before and after pictures.

I can now make saddle coils. I have a Grampion on the bench. I'm working on the feedback next. So, I'll be offering rebuild service on Grampions now! Interesting design.

I can repair, align/calibrate or or fully rebuild any mono coil cutterhead. Let me know if yours needs love.
