SX68 on ebay

Nothing to do with me and far too rich for me, but there is an Neumann SX68 up on ebay at the moment.

The interesting thing about this one, apart from being a somewhat uncommon object, is that the Ebay listing has some of the BEST photographs of the detail of the doings that I have ever seen.

Some of those screws look well stuck, not as I understand it an uncommon problem!

fair price is 3-6k. as you have to count in a 4k repair sooner or later.
if still original the FBcoils will go for sure even not used. the end of wire is marked with some collor
and this will corrode. also the epoxy glue has so much shrinking after 40-50 years...most of the magent systems might be in pieces already.

and also a little odd:
the front shield is painted yellow like SX74. it should be silver. the rest including the rype plate is all SX68.
if it comes real worst case it contais still original sx68 coils.
screws look really old. storage contiion seems not be the best. that means all inside has to be new. to be useable
thats a full rebuild. 4k at least.

if you think this has to be yours (you can get two brand new dialbas for that price, but of course the neumann tag make it sound really much better), Iwould ask for :
-DC resitance values
-open loop curves.
-FB capabilites if you dont see >12-13dB on a SAL74B rack. if its lower than 12dB. send it to repair.
isolation measurmnet.
maybe the seller should spend a fraction of the selling price to get it checked and tested at flokason labs. .
that will increase the chance to sell.

happy cutting
