I've bought and sold at least 100 lathes in my life, and well over half of them have been Presto 6ns. These are my babies. I love this machine. But they are ALWAYS poorly packed and arrive more damaged than they need to. Motor came loose and destroyed itself and the inside of the case, platter bent on its' shaft, dinged up idlers, stylus screw sheered off in the cutting head, carriage broken in half, etc. I've seen it all at least three times each.
So, last time I bought one on ebay, the guy asked "any advice on packing?" and I spent 4 hours putting together this pDF guide (with images) on how to do it properly. What to do, Why to Do it, etc.
And, of course, he never bothered to read it and didn't follow any of the directions, and what appeared to have already been a MESSED up lathe, arrived even worse.
But, rather than spend all that time for nothing, I want this to never have to happen to anyone else again (at least out of ignorance...it still will out of laziness).
Here is the proper way to pack a Presto 6N lathe (but most of the info will be applicable to any other heavy lathe) to give it the best possible chance of arriving unscathed.

I think it will be better if you move it to the classifieds section

This is great! Wish the seller of two of my lathes had read something like this first, could have saved a lot of hassle
