Re: Grampian type C Ebay
Impedance: 15 ohms @ 1.0 KHz (DC resistance measures 6.0 ohms)
Weird, I thought 6ohms DC would means more something like 8 ohms....

Re: Grampian type C Ebay
Probably as all these heads, too this Grampian must be checked inside, perhaps too rebuild the coil...
Re: Grampian type C Ebay
At 6 days from the end of auction it's already to 560$ ?? This is super crazy, considering the low freq. response...

Dang, and it's not too far from where I live. It will be interesting to see what this goes far.
Re: Grampian type C Ebay
Seriously, ones need to make an affordable diy mono head for beginners...
It does not look that complex...the problem is even if you can find diagrams and photos on the internet...it is hard to figure out how it is really made when you cannot see a real one.

Mono heads are not complex at all. They are in fact quite simple.

Re: Grampian type C Ebay
hmm, I need that original retaining screw badly
should I get it for $$$
about mono head for beginners - looks like Audax rh5(?) is what anyone can wander on start. when I get my Gramp for the first time, I didn't noticed a huge difference in embossing, and only when has switched to cutting I get real pleasure, but my Audax was
already sold ))

Did I hear you say you need a screw for the stylus? I can sell replacement parts for the Grampian.

Re: Grampian type C Ebay
Aside from head repair or development can someone not post a thread on how to build a mono head based on Grampian or Presto or even a Fairchild cutter head, which others could replicate? Rather than being forced to pay the inflated prices on a well known auction site.
Not only would it be useful from that standpoint it might help newbies et al with understanding how various parts work.

Yes I had seen that but there is little information on price, delivery etc etc for which I have posted a request for such information on the link you so posted, thanks.

Re: Grampian type C Ebay
Yes Yes absolutely but inquiring minds need to know. Hopefully (although demand will flucuate) it will force prices down.
Re: Grampian type C Ebay
I want everything for nothing and quickly. Can someone make that happen already?

Re: Grampian type C Ebay
So an untested non-feedback mono head went for $1550, more than double what I paid for my entire lathe 15 years ago. I'm not sure what to feel about that.
