Since I can't get Souri to build me one, I thought I'd check here to see if anyone is selling a Vinyl Recorder. I have a lead on one now, but it may fall through, so I thought I'd check here to see if anyone wants to sell.

If you already have a lathe or experience cutting records Souri is reluctant to sell to you. He wants newbies. He doesn't want people who know what they should expect. Less problems for him.

He gave me the same story. He said he isn't making anymore right now. But, he would put me on a list for when he does a new series. That was a year ago. I know people who have picked up new units from him over the past year....

He is a lurker here fyi. Hi Souri! :D

heres my plan:
1. pay $8000 or whatever he charges for a VR these days
2. pay $3000 or so to fly to germany
3. pretend I don't know anything about cutting
4. profit??
5. probably get cut off anyway...

Cut off? MyShank supplies VR diamonds and blanks. http://www.myshank.com/en/

I can supply blanks as well. http://www.deepgroovesmastering.com I don't currently supply VR diamonds. But, who knows in the future?

I could service any piece that comprises the VR setup. Maybe not the cutterhead coils at the moment. But, I'm getting very close to that.

Am sure with that 11kUSD you could machine your own VR to rival Souris.

I think given some more time, there will be some additional competition in that particular mid-range cutting market.

If anyone has a VR in the USA that they wish to sell... I am buying.

We see at least one promising home brew on the horizon: https://lathetrolls.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4820

Yeah, that's the one I'm trying to buy, but it sounds like someone made an offer on it before me :/

Here's what he said when I got in touch with him about buying one:
Hello Thomas

I was wondering if the vinyl recorder is still available? Please let me know.

too less requests at moment.

If more requests, we probably will make again a small line.

Shall we put you on our mailing list ?

Souri
Sad, because I'd love to buy a new one directly from him. He said he wouldn't give me any support for the used one. :(

That is precisely the same email I received. He copied and pasted the text.

I know people who have picked up a newly made VR oversees within the last year.

I saw and met him at SXSW this year.. Emailed him about picking one up and didn't get an email back of any kind. I don't understand why he would bother going all the way to Texas to advertise his product (which seems to be a very nice product for it's purpose/price) and then not respond to emails or sell them to people. I'm in france now, and would have happily tacked on a week in Germany to train/purchase a machine...

I cannot believe this crap is still going on.....

I should have made an order with receipt, kept the mails and sued him for my time, flight cost etc....
