Lier Belgium is the site of Foon Mastering so I'd say it's pretty safe to assume that is who the seller is. Listing includes SX-74, Ortofon amps, transfer console and acceleration limiter, along with the Sean Davies custom pitch/depth computer (which I believe some hold in higher esteem than the Zuma) - so I'd say $30k US is actually a very reasonable price.

If you have the cash and can make the local pickup - I'd say go for it! It's definitely a beautiful lathe - that's for sure.

Best regards,
Steve Berson

this is one of the rarest and best lathes ever built.
I don´t know, which turntable is the most quiet, VMS-80
or lyrec? anybody knows this?
I think, the VMS-80 has more comfort for the operator...
price is o.k. for this nice setup!
nice nice!
:D

No - that's a completely different lathe (an SV12 - not an SV8 that is in this auction) getting restored by Electrical Mastering in the UK.

afaik Foon Mastering in Belgium has been the only professionally used working Lyrec system - and this auction originating in Lier Belgium does in fact look like it is for their cutting system. Perhaps they just aren't getting enough mastering work using it to justify keeping it going. But seems because of the price an email and a plane or train ticket to Belgium would be justified to inspect it prior to actually purchasing.

Steve Berson

lyrecs are very cool.. very far from my reach.. I'd be happy wif the neglected scully.. which also seems out of my grasp, although it shouldn't be..

It's so compact as well. Curious who will pick this one up.

I would if I had a spare 30k
cutting lacquers-vms70 system

yes. there was a time i wanted one. desperately.
the only professional lathe i never had in my collection.
and i was in front of at least 3 or 4...but as soon as i showed serious interest they disapeared or or where not for sale anymore...i almost started to belive it is a conspiracy...hehe. nowadays its on the long list of "nice to have" things....
and it would give me some more space in my studio compared to the vms82.
but at night all cats are black..so as long as you have something that turns at right speed and you have the decent head amp combination

would be nice. but i guess out of my budget right now.
althought a reasonable and fair price.

but still i trade against a vms70 or my disk-o-mat ....
if someone buys....i dont need the head, amps and stuff.
the only items i am interested is the mechanics and maybe the cps 691.

if someone else hape a CPS for sale. reasonable price or trade in against some other goodies... let me know.
they is way better mastering controllers out... but i like the style of the frontplate.

what are the CPS weaknesses ?

i've driven to Lier this morning , the Lathe is old but working flawlessly,
a general checking/service by a pro would probably help a few things

it's much bigger in real than what you would expect from the pictures !
