SOLD : Neumann AM-32 B on ebay

logically it is not my sale , Neumann AM32B in Chicago , no cutterhead included , the guy says local pick-up only.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Neumann-AM-32-B-Master-Stereo-Disk-Recording-Lathe-/160590104291?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2563ea86e3

If starting right now (and be in the States ) probably would have in mind. I've spent a similar number until now , and have a less professional device like this one.

Best Regards
Mani

What a mess. This is actually a VMS 62 Special. Buy It Now for USD 4,900 or best offer. He will crate it and ship it for "serious buyers".

Missing too many parts:

- top platter of turntable
- suspension box
- front/top cover of cabinet
- chip jar
- vacuum hose for turntable - the end bit has a bearing in it.
- top part of microscope

...and who knows what else. Good for spare parts.

anyway if I had the money I would think in it.

I have been told that the chip jar is hard to find. There was some story about them being pickle containers or something like that. All I know is I was told not to break mine!

I think you could find someone who makes glass vases to make one. I remember Crate & Barrel used to have vases that looked almost identical.

Does any one think there may be enough Neumann parts out there to get this lathe working? I am looking for a cutting system but I don't know if I would attempt this one.

Any good lacquer formulas to exchange for a cutting system? Ha Ha
Seriously
Assuming you wait there would be enough parts around for sure
I can tell you that just about anything thats missing from this lathe has come up on ebay over the last year or so
People buy and hoard in the hope of getting a complete system from parts eventualy
That does not transpire after a while they loose interest need the cash whatever and up it comes again
A suspension box went for around the $400 Available in the UK at double that right now regardless
Rack SAL 74 B available as well One in the USA another in the UK fair money wanted for either
Cutting head is a case of $$ or a Westrex would fit and they are around at much lower cost than SX of any kind
Hoses jars and small stuff no big deal
I would
Cheers
Chris

The modded westrex that comes up 2 or 3 weeks ago still 4 sale , I look at two or three times per day and I want it , but not $ , I post both coz is the first I was think when see both in ebay , I guess would be a good joint that am32 with the esteroided westrex. (only would rest get a proper filter/amp (that pair is called "drive"?) for tha babe).

and with a bit work (ok , maybe is a lot of work) you can get a beast for 11/12 K , and evidently learn learn and learn a bit more about that two classics (if you dont know a lot about , like me)

One more time , money rules.

Cheers
